I have to be up at 5:15 AM tomorrow to support a swimming race from my kayak, so I'm going to bed now. I had a lot of fun with FR today and here is a photo of us as I showed them Devil's Gap!

A/N I said that I'd start posting on Fridays and Sundays, so here it is!
“Where you came from, you may have been the best, but now you have to work,” Linn shouted in the echoey arena. Her voice reverberated off the walls, making it difficult to understand. Although tired from the hours and the physical labour of mucking out the horses, I was really excited to do the lesson. Linn was an amazing instructor and had raised many an Olympic champion. Alka and I trotted around the arena obediently as Linn explained what we would be doing while we warmed up. I had really missed riding him and it felt safe to be back on his back. “Today we will be doing fifth leg training, does anyone know what the fifth leg is?” Linn asked. Elysia flicked her head of sleek black hair and said, “Huh, I thought horses only had four legs.” Choosing to ignore the comment, Linn asked, “Anyone?” A boy I didn’t know with freckles and red hair raised his hand, slightly nervously. “The fifth leg is the horse’s brain, making choices without the rider tell it to.” “Very good…?” Linn said. “Benny.” “Very good Benny. Yes, it is important in a competition for your horses to be able to make choices themselves when the rider makes the wrong one, or doesn’t make one at all. It can save you the competition, or your life, so that’s what we shall be practising.” Ah, of course. I’d know that the horse thinking for him or herself was important, I just hadn’t known the fancy name for it. It was annoying in some senses that I’d no longer be the top but in others exciting that there was so much knowledge out there to be learned. “So if you could all please line up in front of this jump. Notice that it’s a solid fence because this will encourage the horse to respect fence. I want you to try and guide your horse as little as possible over the fence, make them think for theirselves.” One by one the riders ahead of me jumped the jump. I need to impress them: this would be my first impression to everyone with my riding skill. I sighed as Liv finished up her jump before kicking Alka into canter. I steering him towards the fence before just letting him ride as Linn said. However, Alka had another idea, he started to go left - away from the fence. I pulled him back right, desperate to make the fence. Face burning hot in the knowledge that everyone saw my mistake, Alka hopped over the low jump. “Well done,” Linn spoke lowly like she had for everyone else so only they could hear their feedback, “Fifth leg training takes a while for the horse needs to develop it so well done for letting him do it all first go but maybe work up to it next time. Give him a pat.” I patted Alka, happy knowing that Linn didn’t think I was hopeless. The lesson continued with more people doing the jump. Linn slowly built up the jump, making it lighter. When it was finally the end of the lesson, she praised us but said we still had a way to go. Next on the list: school. Here is one of the earliest videos of SSO I could find (credit to the owner, I did not film this). I thought that it would be interesting to talk about how the game has changed over time! Here is in my opinion the top four ways that SSO has changed since it was released!
1. Home stable. At first you only had your inventory and then home stables used to just be the place where you could access your storage. Then you could actually go into it when the buy horse feature arrived and it allowed you to keep your horses there. Over time it has grown until you can keep up to 18 horses there and you have a feed, tack and personal room like today. 2. The buy horse function. At the start you couldn't buy any horses, it was just you and your starter. I think that it's lovely that this has changed because it gives a better reflection of the real world (hahahaha SSO compared to the real world - funny). 3. The community. Over time the community has grown and it will continue to grow as people contribute with being Instagrammers, editors, artists, YouTubers, bloggers etc. It's all a part of the community that has grown from nothing to what it is today. 4. Area make overs. Over time, the areas have been made over such as Moorland and in this video you saw FP with no shops. It's made a huge different to the look of the game. What do you mean I'm writing this in the car on the way back from kayaking? I didn't actually have enough time to look for the update today but I've seen IG posts and stuff so ya. Obviously the main thing is that this horse called Spirit has come to the game. Spirit is from a Netflix series and is a wild horse. There has been a lot of argument about this but I've never seen Spirit before so I'm staying out of it in the corner. Basically, you find Spirit in game and then you do quests with him until you are admired where you can pay about 700sc for an apple. If you feed him the apple, Spirit will go to your home stable already level 15 and you can ride him although you cannot tack him up, change his name or change his mane and tail. So what do I think about this? Well, I certainly love the concept of befriending a wild horse and making it your own. It's just a really cool concept and will make the horse extra special for you. However, I absolutely hate the graphics. I appreciate that they were trying to make the graphics look like the Netflix series but they don't really fit into the game if you ask me and I'm always against the cartoony style. So will I be buying him? Well, I shall certainly doing the quests and dailies and honestly I may buy him as he is quite cheep. Some people are complaining at the price but look at the price of the turbo Fjord... Like I said, good deal! There is also a shop in Fort Pinta and you can but the clothes from the shop as your level increases. Here are the clothes. I really liked the boots and the tack was ok. You get the pink dress from a quest and I wasn't a great fan of it. Also I don't really like the trousers but the saddle bag was awesome! Finally, the Spring festival is back! I loved this last year with the potato race and I hope to have a bit of time to high score on it before next Wednesday. What did you think of Spirit? You can find out more about the Netflix series here: Today I logged on around 6:45 because I was writing my fan fiction - Dawnlight - and I got trapped in a book (Bodyguard by Chris Brandford). When I came on, I had plans just to mill about a bit but in the end I decided to do some climbing with the Frosties as i remembered a place behind Pi's that I haven't climbed on for ages. So we gathered and went to climb there! I then called for a pick up and checked my mail (along with a bit of calendar updating). My screen went a little bit weird when I tried to add shading to the game though... Since I am always spending Jorvik Shillings on clothes and picnics and trailers, I thought that it was time to earn some so I headed out and did lots of stable chores around the game and, actually, earned a lot of money! Finally, I realized that I still haven't done the horse market quests so I did those and that was it! I logged off and read and watched YouTube before writing this and going to bed. Night!
I haven't actually spoken about it on here yet (which is weird because I've been loving it but oh well) but the Star Stable behind the scenes IG stories. So they were doing the concept art department this week (which, by the way, looks awesome) and in the background I saw this picture (sorry for awful quality). Does it look like another part of Jorvik City? You can see a train/ bus station and a street with people walking down it and trees (you’ll have to look close). We haven’t had our mini area yet this year and I have that it’ll be a few more parts of Jorvik City because that’ll be really nice. I hope that unlocking these areas with come with quests and a chance to explore parts of the city that we’ve heard about. The University, the museum, the school and more. I hope that it comes soon! What do you think this new area could be?
Buzz! Buzz!
It was too early for me to even be tired. I pushed off the covers, exposing my body to the icy air, a contrast to the snuggly warmth of my bed. “Turn. It. Off,” Ali moaned from somewhere in the depth of her duvet. I slid my finger across the screen, silencing it. “It’s time to wake up Ali, Tyra will be mad.” My new friend snuggled down further into her bed, “Tyra can go to hell, which may as well freeze before my sleep gets interrupted.” I sighed, “Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Changing into my riding clothes in the bathroom, I realised just how tired I was. I braided my hair and sprinted down the stairs for breakfast, which I had no time to eat. So I grabbed a banana and hurriedly pulled on my thin mac and tall boots. Before running (which was nearly impossible in the boots but I had to try) to the stables. I was the second to last to arrive with Ali still, probably, laying in bed. My heart pounding, I checked my watch. I did not want to get into trouble. Thankfully, it said “6:29” - I had made it, just. Trying to keep myself awake, I was hardly listening to Tyra but I realised that she was saying that we were going to be mucking out, grooming and feeding the horses. Each of us would have to do two horses, ours and one of the seniors. How was that fair? I bet the seniors were asleep in bed right now. Oh, that’s what Lily and Zak were sneering about last night. The little… I bore my annoyance in silence but one of the boys didn’t seem to know how to keep his mouth shut. “And how is that fair,? asked a smallish boy with hazel brown hair. “You’re Blake aren’t you?” asked Tyra. “Yes.” “Well, everyone put you hands together for Blake who has just earned the first detention of the year! Now, get on with it.” I did the senior horse first. It was a Morgan and seemed quite gentle. I mucked out before grooming him/ her and finally I went over to the feed room and read out its food amounts. After I’d deposited its measure of horse nuts and barley, I finally got to see Alka, my Dutch Warmblood. “Ah, I’ve missed you girl,” I spoke softly to her. She was my heart, my life. I hugged her big neck passionately and she turned her head to the side, nuzzling into me. Working on her stable wasn’t so much of a chore because I knew I was making her comfortable. When I was finished, I gave her a hug, hoping that we’d be riding later today. As I reentered the yard, I heard a loud shout. “HOW DARE YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN ROCK UP ANY TIME YOU WANT AUTUMN DIAMONDSON. YOU HAVE DETENTION EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT FREE TIME.” I heard sniggers from the others. Honestly, I don’t like to say I told her so, but that’s a complete lie. I did tell her so. To me, the name of a horse is very important. The name always has to mean something whether it is something deep or just “you’re called Springprincess because I bought you just before Spring and you remind me of a Disney princess”. Also, the name has to fit the horse. Sometimes I have a rough idea of what I want but most times I just press “random” until I start to get something I like and then I change it until it is perfect. It can make me a long long long time to choose a name because it must meet the following criteria:
1. None of my other horses must have the two words in their names 2. It must fit the horse 3. I must like each individual name 4. I must like the names together 5. It must make a nice nickname So there we are. What are you criteria for naming horses? Hello! Some people wanted me to upload a fan fiction today but the whole series isn’t planned out enough yet for that so I can’t but I will start uploading twice a week from next Friday. Anyway, today some friends and I found a way up behind Goldspur’s farm. You can get up from the Greydew Pass and before anyone presumes, no it is not glitching. We climbed up there without the game saying we were out of bounds, so we weren’t! Well, first there was an ultra nice view from the top of Jorvik, Goldspurs and Forgotten Fields. But then I noticed that you could see Devil’s Gap. It’s just this big mass of black, so that’s there that’s so dangerous that it is kept locked by Gavin. I want to know so badly and I hope that it’ll be our mini area this year. Grr! I just want to know so much! What do you think could be there?
Very tired so just a little post tonight. I’m trying to sort out my sleep while in the middle of a book and four different fan fictions… Yeah, it isn’t happening. Oh well, I tried to do a little edit earlier, just before the open event (which was amazing, more about it tomorrow on FR blog) and here it is. I’m not very good with edits but I like the “fringe” (which I did) and the tail (which I did). However, I think that the colour in the main mane sort of failed… You have to start somewhere, right?
So what did I think of the new horses? Well it was nice to have the old models of Friesian Sports and Morgan return in the new models and the Icelandic really caught my eye - but none were for me. So let’s go and take a little look! I was going to buy one of the horses but, as I mentioned, none were for me so I settled with some cheap brown clothes (they match my ig theme). I only spent 39 sc and 3000 js on two pairs of shoes and one jacket and they are all - in my opinion - very nice! Finally, for those who watched games news there was a video of Matilda ad Ylva at the end saying that never week would be wild. What’s happening next week? Some are saying that it’s just the challenges and others are thinking about a wild horse update. I’m not really sure - hard to say but easy to speculate. What do you think?
If you’re like me, you’ll like reading. Although I currently have a load of books from my birthday and a wonderful website called Wattpad to waste my life over, I also like reading other people’s blogs and so here are some of my favourites to read. (Some are are in Swedish so I have linked the translated version.)
Dalma Diamondgirl - a new blogger and one of my best friends. She’s more of a “day with me” blogger which I quite like (thinking about making one). She’s new to blogging but so far it’s going great! Esme - well, I’ve mentioned her enough times. She’s a lovely thoughtful blogger (also a Harry Potter nerd like me) who writes regularly about SSO. Haley Rainstorm - another awesome active blogger, not that much to say besides it’s amazing to read - go now! (Just looked at her blog, she thinks that there will be orienteering tomorrow - something I spoke about a while ago - well I hope that there will be!) Evelina Silverknight - just another interesting read! Rose Shadowlee - Star Stables and the Sims truly is a magnificent combination! So, as I said, it was my birthday yesterday and of course, people being ultra sweet I got loads and loads and loads of birthday wishes. So many people wrote posts (although I didn’t actually take screenshots of a lot), I was on peoples stories, people Whatsapped, dmed, messaged me in game, mailed me - the lot. I was eve taken by surprise when Caitlin Lightlake took me to Apple Grove for me to find a line of FR screening happy birthday! We then went to the ice cream place and they all did acts for me. Everything from a speech about sausages, to a poem, to dance offs and even to songs. It was just amazing and it made me smile so much. It’s unbelievable the love in this community and I was so happy to be a part of FR and of course all of those people who wished me Happy Birthday from outside FR. It’s lucky that such a community exists and I am so grateful to be a part of it!
I’m going to make a gallery of all of the stuff that people said to me for my own memories because every mail, post and birthday wish was previous but before that, here is a poem written by Ruby Riverbell: There once was a newb named Lisa, Destined to own FR, These crazy bunch of idiots, Must have left her scarred, One day this girl called Lisa, Said her nick was gonna be Li, Everyone hated spamming that, So instead they just said " hi ", When it was FR's 2 years, Li was absolutely great, At organising everyone, And she wasn't late And she wasn't Now it's Lisa's birthday , And everyone celebrates, We all need to make sure, To get her the right size cake, Now we all love Li, even though she's a newb, We have one final song to sing, And you should all know it too, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to The Newb, Happy birthday to you 💞💞! |
