Today I wanted to share some tips on how I make outfits. I am not perfect out making outfits and I often don’t have all of the right clothes, but I thought I’d share what I know and can do. The first thing is you need to think about what you want to create. Sometimes I want a certain theme, sometimes I want it to match a certain horse or in this case a top: The next thing I do it look at the colours on the top. You can see a brown, green and a very faint purple. So then I just try and duplicate these colours on the rest of my outfit. As you see here: the yellow hat and gloves are the match the background, the green shoes matches the green (even if it isn’t a perfect match) and the jeans are the base for most outfits, but they have a little hint of pink. Now it’s time to choose a horse. I try and choose one that shares the same colours as the outfit. In this case, I chose Lily my Jorvik Pony because she has the same kind of colour as the top and looks very nice in brown. When it came to tack, I decided to bring out the green in the outfit more and then just go back to the light brown. For every outfit there has to be a base colour with ‘side colours’ that just help the outfit out.
Here in the finished thing:

Did you notice this today? Star Stable has released a video of Matilda learning dressage with Tobbe. I really want to do this kind of dressage, but I’m sure doing it is easier then training the horses! I really like the way that Star Stable is adding in more real life riding aspects to the community (although I would prefer it if they were added to the game)! Star Stable has left us with a lot of teasers at the moment including: Mustangs, new area, Anne and home stables. ‘Mustangs?!’ i hear you ask. Well take a look at this: So the question is: what is a mustang? Mustangs are medium sized horses that come in may colours but most common is bay or sorrel (a chestnut colour). They can have spots, patches or strips. In the real world, mustangs are wild horses. So could they be joining the Welsh Ponies? Personally, I think not as how would you explain a load more horses galloping around the island when they are meant to be being taken! So this is the second photo of the new area. Now I have two theories. One isn’t very exciting and is that the reason it looks like it is scaffolding is because they have put that there until they add the detail OR it is a GED site. This would make sense as in Moorland they were trying to build houses, in New Hillcrest they had started building houses so maybe here they have actually managed it. I think that would be awesome. The only other thing I have to say is that if they are adding in quests, they at least have the outline of the area but as otherwise how would they know that the NPCs aren’t walking through walls or something?
I am very excited and any update in the next 2 months could reveal and pleasent surprise! I was meant to have a productive day when I got home this evening. However, I fell into the YouTube trap! I was watching these two videos (both are YouTubers paid to do a ride through of Star Stables). I thought that it really help some throwbacks of being a newbe and not knowing much about the game! Everything what what you wear to how you act is different. I remember I used to think that if you used up all three buckets of water then your bucket is disappear and you wouldn’t get another one. I also thought that at a certain point in game that there would be a test for the ‘Jorvik Riding Academy’ and if you didn’t get in then you would have to start the game again. And now I don’t think I’m a newbe, but looking back in a year I am sure I will think ‘what was I doing’. In fact, looking back on this post in a year I will be thinking ‘what was that quality?’ Ah those happy newbe days where you could wear whatever you wanted and people wouldn’t judge you!
I’m really interested, what did you think as a newbe? Today I was out climbing so it was just a quick glance of the update on the news page. It was my first time climbing and I have my first blister! (I am proud of it, okay?) Today we welcomed 3 new horses to Jorvik and some new clothes to the mall. Out of these three, my favourite is the bay Lipizzan as that is my favourite breed and I really like the softer colours. I am not a fan of the block colour horses but the white fades nicely into grey around the nose and feet and on the black it fades into brown. This gives the horses a less cartoon look. I really like the Sports Horse’s mane as it is a mix of shades so the white almost looks like it is glowing! The normal complaint is the muscles. Look at horses in real life, they do not look like that! This is worst on the lighter Sports. I really did like the clothes! I can see that if you buy them all (plus a brown beanie) you could have any top (although not the brown trousers with the brown top) with any pair of hat and pants! I really and tempted to do that as I love the trouser design and the design of the pink and blue tops. It is just so detailed and such a normal thing to wear. The final thing that happened with Wednesday update was the brand new Star Stable News, hosted by GM Ylva. I enjoyed the way that it was set out like a proper news report, but if you read the bottom you’ll see that nothing on Jorvik can be too serious!
I have had an amazing time tonight making a video and doing some photos with FR! I can’t show all of them to you until they are put on the website (I haven’t got round to doing any FR website editing yet) but here is a sneaky one that want to show! I have been working on FRs website for hours and I am so happy with it. I like the theme and all we need is to put on these new photos! Today was very stressful! I think we got 7 photos in 2 hours? But it was worth it for the quality of the photos. Just things what normally we couldn’t do in an event as it would take so long. I also had lots of fun with Ava Northstar and Caitlin Lightlake choosing the photos we would take, even if we had artistic differences at times!
As for wether it is the home stables tomorrow, I think that it could be, but also it might not be! We have a chance either way, so say bye to the old, but it might be staying a bit longer… If you aren’t in the mood for a negative post, the don’t read this.
I have had enough. Enough of being under valued. Enough of just being told that something that I spend hours doing is awful. I feel like people just let me do all the work, hours of work, and the don’t give me the full credit. I feel like so many people don’t want me to co owner FR anymore. I try not the write negative posts, but tonight I’ve had enough. Writing has always been my way of expressing things and this is my place to do just that. So many people think I am so strong. So strong that they don’t realise, don’t remember, that I have feelings. I hurt too. I try to be positive all the time and it works. But actually it only means that when you have had enough it feels even worst as I feel like I’m going again my own philosophy. And no, I don’t want to tell you wants up. The people who have hurt me and made me feel down are my friends and they didn’t mean to. I don’t want to talk about them behind their backs as if they are bad people, because they aren’t. They just didn’t think about my emotions when they said things and now I’m upset. But I’m one of those people who would rather put themselves in pain then others. I’m not trying to make myself sound amazing - I’m not - but that’s true. I couldn’t intentionally hurt those people. I lied. I want to just write a post about how unfair life is, how upset I am, just to relieve my own feelings. But then I just make more people feel upset and then I lose a friend and make myself feel upset again. So it honestly isn’t worth it. I feel like so many people think I’m not ‘tactful’. Online people read things differently and I type things with smiles to genuinely put a lighter mood to things. Apparently people think this is sarcasm. If you are one of those people mistaking that then that’s your own fault. I can’t predict how you will read something, I can only write it how I would read it and hope the right meaning comes across. All I want is for people to stop just saying comments, comments that many are true but they are not tactful. And they hurt when I have done an hours work and people just moan moan moan. If I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t do it. That is why I don’t like to pay much attention to what people say about my blog. This is the place where I’m not judged. Maybe you are judging me just for writing this? Well actually I don’t want attention. I’d rather no one read this. But I want to put it up to the chance that someone MIGHT read it. My blog is where I can write whatever the hell I want (within reason) and people cannot stop me. My thoughts, my feelings, my stories, my comics, my ideas. Mine. I just want to be me. My back hurt. My feet hurt. My hands hurt. The sun clearly didn’t give a care about my suffering as it continued to beat down upon myself and the other trainees. This morning we were all split into groups of 5 to work on different farms. I wanted to be put on Sunfield farm with my mother, but I was put on Jarlsson’s (I guess this was purposeful). We each work on this farm for 3 months, and then another one for 3 months before taking take of a farm alone as a big group.
It turns out that the Jarlsson’s has pigs, cows, sheep, hens and horses. The normal lot. First I was given the last of checking the horses paddock ragwort. I have grown up being taught what ragwort is and how it is bad for horses all my life. But Ninna didn’t have a clue. I had carefully showed her a ragwort. However, she had dug up a whole corner of buttercups and grass as she thought the weed was there. Thankfully she had taken the grass out in wedges, so it wasn’t that hard to put right. Then it was lunch time and we all gathered around for a bowlful of oats and roots. Much to my excitement, I (and Ninna) was given the task of taking the horses out on a ride. Ninna had only ridden a few times so I put her at the front, tell her that we could go up into Forgotten Fields providing we kept to the track and didn’t wander into the Dew’s land. I took up the rear as we step off in a trot, sometimes a canter. I had the job of keeping all the horses in together and not letting any of them stray too far. As much as riding was better then weeding, the constant chasing of rebellious horses led to me having to constantly stay alert. So that by the time we had ridden them back into their paddock for the night I was tired. Luckily, the others had milked the cows and were starting to light the torches to keep the wolves and bears at bay. I hated milking cows. I don’t know why but the whole business of it just made me squirm. It was time to choose who would stay on watch for tonight. They would have a fire and a bag of stones to stop any predators, or other clans, from seizing our live stock. Ninna, much to my amazement, volunteered. So I thought it was only polite to volunteer also. “It’s so strange here you know. Back in the town I was training to be a baker. That’s what my father was. Every morning we had fresh bread and we would eat it as we delivered it to the Fort. I think I must be insane coming here but I just wanted some peace you know? Start again. In Silverglade clan, you do the job that your parents do. Then if you transfer to that clan you take up any spaces. If there are too many of you then you have to win the space else you’ll be sent away,” Ninna sighed. She had a way of just telling you things. The night was still. The fire crackled; the wind blew. A twig snapped. I sped around, trying to make out a shape in the darkness. I got up. What was it? “Cyth?” Ninna asked. I kept walking. Into the trees. What was it? ‘Just a fox ‘ I told myself. I turned around to go back… …And I heard Fok’s voice. Happy 5th of November! It’s fireworks night and I’ve hardly been on SSO today as I’ve been, well doing fireworks. The night started with a nice hot fire and burning this year’s pumpkin. Then it was time to put on my snugly coat and hat before taking my camera outside to take photos of the fireworks! We only had about 3 that went wrong I think? Also there was just a small competition with our neighbors as we both were firing sparks into the sky! Well here are our fireworks from this year? I wish that SSO celebrated fireworks night but it is only something done in the UK to celebrate the capture of Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up the houses of parliament. I love the SSO fireworks, but I love them in IRL even more. I’m sorry that this isn’t SSO but I hope it was interesting anyway.
Do you celebrate fireworks night? OH MY GOD! I saw it all over my Instagram and I’m so excited! But where could this be? What is it? Before we start questions, let’s just stick with what we know, so here is the photo: 1. The city has trams as a mode of transport 2. It has many tall buildings 3. There are stands selling newspapers (that’s what the red box is) 4. There is some kind of shop in the centre 5. You cannot see any recognisable landmarks 6. There is a walkway leading to somewhere So we can’t tell for sure where it is but based on the fact that it has so many big buildings, I am leaning towards Jorvik City. Jorvik City will have to be really big, which makes sense as there is a tram that will help us get around the city! Based on the SSL games, Jorvik City has a school, a university, a museum, performances and of course entrance to the mall. In addition, it will have to have plenty of shops of it’s own. Also, I wonder about the stables. In SSL, Jorvik stables was attached to the city, but Jorvik Stables is attached to Jarlaheim now. However, I think there has to be a stables so we’ll wait and see! As for when, I think in either late November or December. Remember, we’ll have the big update of home stables in the next few week so it is unlikely it is this month. Also we have to have story quests so I’m think late November or early December. What do you think? So this is it, my first comic strip. Ignore the story line and focus more on the presentation. I am very pleased with it! I hope to start up a weekly comic strip about ‘super Jarla’ - Jorvik’s female hero! Of course, her adventures are all about taking down the evil Garna and his minions.
If anyone is wondering, the story line behind this piece is quite simple as I wanted to just focus on getting and editing the photos but: 1. Girl arrives on Jorvik 2. Hails a car 3. Meets her cousins who run the fashion market 4. Goes out for dinner! (Click on the image to make it full screen.) Recently I have been getting back into back videos. it is lots of fun to do and I plan to make another one every weekend. I currently have something like for subscribers and I would honestly love a few more. So if you enjoy these videos please do show me love! I plan to make a “Star Stable Autumn routine” and a “Home stable tour” (I want to remember the old home stables) this weekend which I shall also post on YouTube. Before I let you just watch these, do you remember that I said I want to get into comic making? Well I will show you my trail one tomorrow. It isn’t anywhere near perfect and there isn’t really a story but I just want to see what people think! It’s another Friday and this week Star Stable released a fashion market! It is a bit like the Horse Market but it contains clothes instead of horses. Quite a lot of people were getting annoyed about how small the update was but I think people should get used to the fact that at the end of the year the updates get smaller due to the fact that lots of big things are coming out. A new area, story quests and home stables. I think it is quite a cool addition and I really liked the clothes. Also I noticed two girls sitting on the fence and earlier today I was looking through Star Stable comics and I got I little bit inspired… Check out my blog on Friday! Now let's go and look at clothes. Out of all the bits and pieces around I took the red hoodie and the Autumn top home. The red hoodie looked super cute and had good stats and the Autumn top was very cheep. I managed to buy it all with the Jorvik Shillings I had earned with the apple bobbing. I quite liked the update today.
What did you think? We’re headed into the depths of Autumn and the nights are shorter then the days. Some trees are bare and others have bold patches. The first frost has been as we say good bye to the final days of warm… And hello cold. I think you can just tell by the fact that in my blog banner I am wearing this that it’s my favourite item of clothing this month. I love the way that it looks Autumnal and warm without breeching the barrier of being for winter. Therefore, it is perfect for this time of the year. I also like any item of clothing that has multiple parts. Eg, a jacket with a shirt and a scarf underneath, breeches with socks or in this case a base layer with a body warmer. I just think in these seasons it adds an extra feeling of coziness. I was pleasantly surprised when this little cute pumpkin hopped from either the ghost or the apple bobbing (I can’t remember which). I think that it is really cute and it different from the normal spider or Halloween ribbon. Aw just look at it’s cute little face! If you are ever looking around for me, the best chance you have of finding me is at the Vineyard. I can never stay still in game! When the rest of FR are standing at Steve’s I’m running around the vines. This stops me making a fool of myself where everyone is watching! I like to do ‘vine bending’. Which is where you use the vines as poles and I like to jump over the fences, all while chatting to my club. Also the lag isn’t nearly as bad at the Equestrian Centre as it is at Steve’s. Finally, there aren’t as many people there which is good because whenever I do go to Steve’s I get “Li Li” -Friend invite- -Group invite- “Hello Li” and it is just too much! I think this has been the most frustrating quests ever, the birthday quizzes. I, actually, quite enjoyed the idea of doing a quiz for the part of the birthday outfit. I liked the mix in questions as well, as it was everything from horses, history of Jorvik, and even Mrs Holdsworth old job. However, there weren’t any proper new quests this month, which is quite sad as my favourite thing in game is new quests. But, it is a common theory that the new area and new story quests might be one of the same… Pandoria… I love Halloween. I don’t actually celebrate it in real life, so it is always lots of fun to get into the Halloween spirit in game. I love the colours, tastes, smells and the mystery. This has been the best Halloween year as last year they added a lot of the things after Halloween. But this year we got the apples, ghost train, quests, outfits, ghosts and Spider pig (all I can say is going into the dressage arena at the riding hall and look up). I am still in love with my Lipi from last month, so it is only right that she gets mentioned again! I just love the body shape, the colours and the animations of this horse. They are so smooth and graceful and they have even started to make me enjoy riding larger horses as compared to the similar sized English Thoroughbred, they are less ‘jolty’. I hope that Star Stable releases similar horses in the future. Since I have a brand new account to quest on, I have been doing the Moorland Pole bending a lot. I love Western riding and I think it should be used more in the game. I really like the race as I’m lazy and it is short but gives you 125 xp. Also it is more about control and less about the actual speed, which I also really like. Finally, it is in Moorland and if often overlooked by the normal pro racers so novices like me get a chance!
