Hello guys, it’s Li here. Everything is starting to crash at the moment and I just can’t handle it if it’m honest! I feel a bit ill, my laptop is crashing due to excess files and I have two videos to edit plus loads of stuff IRL. Ugh, it’s just a bit much right now. I hope to have time to blog tomorrow. I have been looking at a new design for the blog which is very exciting (or at least I’m excited). Love yous!

Hello everyone! Just got back from my wonderful holiday so while I'm recovering ready to get back into blogging, why don't you check out this video I upload while I was away: While I was writing a rant about the SSO age range, I started to think about why I actually play SSO. What actually appeals to the game for me? Well, firstly I love writing my SSO blog as well as getting into editing photos and videos. I love the media side! But most importantly, I love owning Frosty Roses and hanging out with them all regularly, they're amazing! I love being able to put time and effort into these things which involves being online. Also, ever since I have remembered, I have had a need to be the best. Therefore, I love to keep up to date with my account and get my horses maxed as well as getting the highest in everything (or at least trying to) along the way. And finally, I love some of the questlines (which is why I get so annoyed when SSO ruins them).
So that's it. That's what keeps me on such a huge part of my life. Why do you play SSO? Despite not being an editor myself, I love other people's edits. I love creative art that is unique and their own style. At the moment, here are the two artists that I've been loving most. I'm not going to pretend that I'm trying to support their art, I am but they have very big followings over on Instagram but if you do fancy following them, click on the picture for a link to their Instagram page. !!Neither of these pieces of artwork are mine. I am just using them to show case these two artists talents and they belong to these artists!! Firstly, Catherine Mistheart. As you can see, her art is amazing. She often bases it off films or books but sometimes bases it off the SSO universe, of course and often combines both (my favourite being Harry Potter cross Jorvik). Her style is completely her own - not copied off anyone else. Looking at her work does just make me smile because it's so fun and beautiful. I would highly recommend you look at her other pieces of work! Look how cute this one is! It's by Jenny Whaletuin. My favourite thing about Jenny is the fact that her opinions are her own and she's not afraid to say what she thinks (but still manages to phrase it nicely, don't forget that). Her art is very very unique, I have never seen anything like it before. But she's highly talented and has many pieces about lots of exotic animals being in SSO - like this one. She's just another artist who makes me smile and I think you should certainly look at.
Happy Wednesday update day everyone! I'm still camping but I hope to be able to check what the update is today, I presume it'll be JoJo coming to Jorvik! Now, in last weeks update I saw this image: Do you see the blurred out thing? I wonder what it may be. I honestly have no idea about what it could be but it must be coming soon as they are clearly testing it for use. I hope that it will be some kind of stamp system, like in club penguin, but I don't think it will be.
What do you think it will be? Hey there guys, I have a brand new story series for you. I hope you enjoy! - Li
Jorvik was so small that they didn’t have a proper pier. Well, apparently there was one in Jorvik City but no one really used it as it wasn’t kept in the best condition. Back home, whenever we’d been on a boat we had been able to drive on and off, but on Captain Brus’s ship (the fact that we knew the name of the captain said a lot) there were no cars allowed and to get off, we had to all take it in turns, 4 at a time, to go into a little rowing boat. With eight kids, I guess Mum and Dad had always had it difficult. Back in Cardiff, we had a three bedroom flat to try and accommodate us all. Take my word for it, it was a squash. So when the lawyer knocked on our door saying Mum had come into inherit a farm? Wow, we partied all night. I say we but I do not include Poppy and Ashton. Ashton (NEVER call him Ash) is only two and Poppy is only four, so neither of them seemed to understand that our life would be changing forever. For me, no more nice local sixth form down the road. Instead, homeschooling was on the menu. What a joy. Strangely, none of the others seemed to see the problem with us inheriting our family’s farm. Wren was excited to be able to go fishing in the local river (despite the fact he had only ever seen fishing on the TV). Renee was so happy that she couldn’t stop pretending to be a pig. Leo just couldn’t wait to decorate the farm (he was the only one that had inherited Dad’s artistic trait). Bailey was excited to go exploring in the mountains near our house. Even Aden, who I thought might be with me on this, was excited to be able to go riding at the near by Silverglade Equestrian centre. So yes, it felt like the world was against me. I opted to take the last ride in the boat to the shore, waiting behind with Aden. The land appeared to be an orangey gold tone and the houses were old and ramshackle, but had this rustic vibe coming with them. The smell of salt, and fish, littered the air, assaulting your senses with their aroma. “It was very nice of Great-Grandma Dew to leave us her farm, Rachel,” Aden tried to plead with me. I gave him the fierce big-sister stare, “Giving up college with my mates to fix up some abandoned farm somewhere away from civilisation and don’t try to tell me otherwise, because it is. Our address even includes the words ‘Forgotten Fields’.” Before Aden could reply, however, the small boat appeared to row us to shore. Over the short journey to the long wooden walk where the rest of the family (Mum, Dad, Ashton, Poppy, Wren, Renee, Leo and Bailey) waited (holding far too many bags and suitcases), Aden made conversation with the sailer about the different stables around Jorvik and which one would be best for him to learn to ride. Finally, we arrived at the jetty where Mum helped me out onto the slippery wooden surface (which seemed to be missing a plank every few metres). “Well,” she said, “We better get walking.” “Excuse me, walking?” I knew I sounded shocked - I was. What did she mean walking? We were literally trying to carry our whole livelihood with us. Dad jumped on the opportunity to get in Mum’s good books, “Yes, the farm is only a kilometre from here. We will be there soon!” And with that, off we marched to our new home. What joy. Look at these beautiful pink wings belonging to beautiful pink fluffy unicorns! Don't you just love it! Didn't you just love rainbows and JoJo Siwa!
...Or maybe you didn't. Maybe you're with most of SSO players and are not into these things because, like most SSO players, you are of the age of around 11 - 16. Maybe you still like these things - that's ok! But many teenagers do not like these things. These things are for eight year olds. I think that SSO wishes that most of its players were eight because they're constantly bringing out content aged at that group of people. But the fact is, they're not. Most players are at least at secondary school because that is when most parents allow children to start talking to strangers online. I think that SSO haven't realised this, or they have and they do not like it. Whatever they're doing, they're going to lose their main audience and when it sinks them, I will be sitting on the shore saying "I told you so". !!Possible spoilers from latest story quests!! Woah, the title says it all! Li is here with a crazy theory. Or is it so crazy? Maybe it's just obvious. I'm not sure! So when I was doing the soul rider quest, they were talking about Concorde and said this: When I read this, I instantly thought of Nightdust. A horse in a cage? Well, it just has to be him. Nightdust is one of the horses taken from South Hoof for Mr Anwir's evil plot. However, there is one problem. I'm not sure where Nightdust would fit into the 'things that weren't human' part. Could Justin mean other horses? I'm not sure. If this theory is right, I'm not sure how I'll feel about SSO trying to tie all of the quests together. First they tried to put main story quests with GED and now, possibly, this? I wish they'd allow there to be other questlines besides the main one that are, although exciting, independent.
How likely do you think this theory is? It was in the middle of an event when I was going around Dundull and I saw Skoll at his house. I thought it was very strange that he was still in the town. I thought that he would have moved out when he was no longer mayor, so are there more quests to come with Skoll? Are we yet to see the end of the pitch battle in Dundull? Well, I hope we'll find out soon!
I think that this is probably the most hated on update this year after chat banning (which is weird because I don't think it's too bad). So without further a do, let's head into the update. So firstly, Jojo Siwa, an American singer and dancer (google her if you want to know more, because I'm not the person to tell you) will be doing the debut of her new song next week at the disco in Fort Pinta. In preparation, each day you can find 7 JoJo bows hidden around game and swap them for clothes. Don't worry if you miss a day because the bows will stay along with the bows for the new day! There is also a shop which currently sells 5 t-shirts which each cost 1sc or 10js - a very good deal. Now, where's the problem with this person coming to SSO? Well, SSO are yet to understand that most of their players are between about 11 - 16. Jojo is more for 6 year olds (she's the rainbows and unicorns type of person). Therefore, most of the SSO audience is not within Jojo's market and this is why she had got such a negative response for coming to the game. Although I do not like her, I have got some free/ cheap items from her coming and I can always not go to the disco. I think SSO made a mistake in adding her, but she's here now so you might as well try and make of the mot of it. Also, SSO have brought back the fashion market for a week - yay! I love the fashion market, but I was sad to notice that they only added some bridles. I think they could have added much more considering the market has been gone for months. Although some of the bridles are very cheap, I think that 119sc is way too much for a bridle. However, others are around just 25sc - which is quite a good value. You can pick up four new bridles for 100 sc which is an amazing deal. They are all western which doesn't tend to be to my taste, but they're still quite nice. My favourite is the "lake western bridle" at the bottom. They also released 3 morgans, which are already in the game. The morgans still cost their normal price but they game with free tack, namely a free bridle, saddle, saddle pad, saddle bag and leg wraps. I thought that this was a great deal and so I welcomed my new horse home. Welcome Holl aka Minihollow! The final part of the update was 20 new stars have been added to the game (I will make a video about finding them soon). I love finding stars so I think that this is a great thing. It's nice that star stable haven't given up on them and have been adding loads more recently. There was also a new way of viewing the stars that you have found which I thought was pretty neat: I filmed all of this, plus a bit more, on my YouTube channel. So please like and subscribe (totally not self promo). I actually think it was a good update, not the end of the world like some people were making out! We have a lot of good deals and cool stuff, even if I don't like Jojo Siwa.
Are you happy that Jojo Siwa is coming to Jorvik? It was April Fools day, so obviously I had to fall the club, right? I mean, come on, it's basically their human right to be tricked on April Fool's! So the leaders (more commonly referred to as the liaders because I am amazing at puns) came up with a little trick about a new points system, new uniform, new club and some other things to be put on our discord chat. Oh, and we changed everyone's ranks to novice to go along with the prank! Although some people had their doubts, everyone believed it! Some people even liked the ideas (which would never work, by the way) while others were stressing that they'd be removed. Obviously I'd never make something like this for FR - it's completely wrong for the club! However, after 20 minutes of everyone going crazy, it was time to reassure them: Another year's April fools has been ticked off the list! I'm still waiting for the one by SSO though. I hope that will happen soon.
Did anyone prank you this April Fools? I know one of the leaders in FR got me! I was just sorting through my photos when I noticed that I didn't blog about the new tack that SSO released with the druid quests. For me, any item above 100 sc, unless it is a horse, is too expensive. The saddle falls into that category and it's way too cartoony for my taste. It hasn't got enough detail or texture, which is a shame because it's quite nice otherwise. The bridle is ok but nothing very special. Just a common bridle (which a yellow-brown colour that I'm guessing is very hard to match with). My favourite piece of this set is the saddle pad. I love the symbol on it and, although it could have a bit more texture, it's pretty good. I think it's a really pretty colour and I love the gold bit at the bottom.
For people who like collecting the Druid sets, I think they'll like this set. But for me, it's too expensive for not enough content. But I would consider buying the saddle pad. And then you arrive in "Cloud Land". No quests or anything, you just get there. It was, well, pretty boring. It was extremely slow - not enough space to run around in at all. All there was was two clouds (one filled up with tents) and a rainbow connecting them. The only other thing in the whole area was a race which involved collecting horse shoes to earn xp. It basically just felt like the kind of game you get on your phone. The only good bit was your horse got wings but besides that it was very pointless and not as all relevant to the game. So I'm not very happy with that update, if you couldn't tell. But besides that there was also the Easter update with Easter hunts and golden eggs. Although the shops had nothing new in them, there was a new Easter outfit which I actually really like this year and think looks really cool. A predictably disappointing update.
What did you think of Cloud Land? Almost off to sleep but there's time for me to hide in my cosy sofa corner and write about this! So, on the bus home, I saw this video that SSO posted on their IG. Here was a screenshot of it: As you can see, this is some very poorly done, cartoony clouds with a rainbow. SSO made it clearly that this was coming to the game on Wednesday. I hope that it comes with quests but it seems that SSO is drifting away from horses and more going to 'rainbow unicorns'. I guess that's where the market is... Maybe the quests will be cool but currently I don't see the point of it in game.
Hello! Not a not to say besides the fact that I'm going to go ahead and play through the brand new quests! I was ultra excited for these so let's get started. Yes, yes, lovely stuff now cut to the point. Sure. Hurry up. Sounds surprisingly boring! Oh dear. So how do we find these starbreeds to replace Concorde? Herman? Well, let's go and meet her. Yay? Do I have a bond with Lovermagic? Well since you gave me no option for not loving a group of pixels... Before I start on any serious training, can we just appreciate: So cute! Ok, I will focus on finding the star breed... Got one! Oh, it's not right? Well, we better go and look at Jorvik Stable. Alright let's go. Ok, none in this field. Um ok, what about the next paddock? Found one! But it's still not right. How about we go on Moorland stable. Oh hello, it looks like Alex and May know each other. Hm, or not. Ok, let's get a space cleared for this mother to give birth. And here's Thomas Moorland. Did he mean to park in the Fortuna arch? Ok well, I'll see you tomorrow!
The first day of quests were quite good but lacking in much story line (the second day is much better). I loved the foals and loved searching for them, it reminded me of old quests in druid training from a long time ago. I won't talk in too much detail until I play through the second day of quests on Tuesday. Until then! So tired at the moment - it's been a hard week. I fell asleep downstairs so I'm just writing this as I close my laptop for the evening (I can hardly see straight). I just thought I'd update you guys! Tomorrow I have a big list of tasks, both SSO and IRL related but for now this is it. Good night! I can't wait to get online tomorrow and complete quests as well as getting some posts written.
Today's update was a lot bigger than expected with BRAND NEW story quests! I will warn you now that there may be hints of spoilers in this post but I won't be actually playing through any quests. The first part of this week's update was the 'coming of Spring' (that sounds like something out of Brambly Hedge). This was a new loading screen and launcher screen. It looks like this: It's very pretty but it's a bit too cartoony and not as detailed as the previous ones which was a bit disappointing. Oh well, Summer will come faster than I think! Onto the main part of this update: the (totally unexpected) story quests. I have officially played through them all (they did take quite a while). I will not go into them in too much detail here because I will do that in a couple of days in another post. I do apologies for not being on top of posts recently, but I am trying my hardest to grab a spare 10 minutes to write. For me, this was the best part about the new quests: But, for me and FR, I can officially say that the best part of the update was that you can now crouch where you want on SSO! I blogged about this earlier this year (on the 28th January) and said "Forget about needing a picnic, BBQ or chair, you could just sit on the floor" - well that now is a reality. All you have to do is press z (control on a Windows computer) and boom, you're crouching! If you then press w/ forward arrow, you can crouch and walk. It really is awesome and we've already used lit loads in events. I'm actually so shook that this has become real!
Thank you all for reading & bearing with me. Bye! I haven't really been watching SSO' series of Together, but I did look at this one because I've seen the girl's Instagram and I thought it looked really cool. But I was quite surprised by what I saw, have a watch: It was a lot more serious than I thought it would be! All of the other videos have looked like they're just lovey-dovey we love horses kind of videos. But this one, although a message which has been repeated many times, was not. It was a lot more serious and it just surprised me. I wish that SSO would break out of their hearts and unicorns cage a little more and join the real world with real people that isn't always so perfect. So, for the first time, I actually enjoyed the episode.
Have you been watching the series so far? So I was logging on today (just to update the calendar since I climb on a Monday) and while my laptop was loading I had a little thought. I was watching the tips of the day and thinking how useless they are: I mean, how's that going to help anyone in their game play. So I started thinking, why shouldn't players submit their tips for the game? Things such as 'Looking for a place to hide from your friends? Try hiding in a rock' or something like 'Get stuck somewhere? Ask a friend to invite you to a group and then do a group race to get unstuck'. Just little things like that which I think would really help players. Everyone could send them in and then SSO could choose their favourite each day.
This would be a cool way to help all players as well as promoting the community (which is really need right now). If you could give anyone a tip on SSO, what would it be? So no post in a while... I have missed writing so much but life was getting on top of me last week. However, I'm 100% back to daily writing again on the blog so let's head into the latest outrage at SSO by the community. SSO decided to introduce an automatic chat banning system. This means that if someone says certain filtered words (e.g. swear words) or spams the chat, they will get some form of sanction. This will either be a warning or a straight out banning from the game which may be anywhere between 3 and 10 days (as far as I've seen). So what's the issue with this filter? Surely it's good that the chat is now a safer environment for everyone, right? Well I think wrong. I do agree in an automatic system for spammers because they're annoying and if you spam it's clearly something you do on purpose for attention but not for filtered words. Here's my issue: a word or phrase either will or will not get picked up by SSO's software as an offensive word or phrase. If it goes get flagged up, it will get filtered and the player will be blocked? Where is the sense in this? They haven't done any harm anyway as no one was able to see their offensive language. If they can say it and the filter doesn't pick it up then it won't get flagged up to chat ban them.
Also, that's not to mention the fact that SSO have managed to block plenty of players without any cause as the software is still in early stages. They should have done more testing before deciding to release a feature into the game that will cause so many issues for their customers. Overall, I think that this was a bad idea by SSO, despite good intentions. It has ruined the experience of the game for a lot of people and I hope that they sort it out soon. What is your opinion on this? |
