Hello there! Recently, I've left my SSO YT to rot but recently I've been thinking about bringing it back again. Over the last 3 days, I've put so much time and effort into a video. It's one of those "equestrian is a sport" videos but it's obviously based of Star Stable instead of clips of real horses. So far, I have 3 out of 5 clips filmed and found the music so I just need to get the other two filmed and edit them all to match the music nicely. Basically, I'm hoping to upload it tomorrow (13th March) and I'm super exciting to get in finished. Here are some clips from me editing it so far:

Well this is long due... Oh well, better late than never (although better on time than late). So here are the brand new quests at GED that were released last Wednesday. They will include SPOILERS so please do not read on if you do not want to see any spoilers. Yay! That means I haven't got to do anything...Right? Or not... Fine, I'll meet the weird dude at Jarlaheim so we can spy on Mrs Drake! Errr... Hello to you too... OK, I have a place! Let's pretend to be boxes!! Look who it is... Channeling inner box - activate! Oh there's someone coming. Oh God!? HE'S NOT meant to be in these quests, GET OUT and go back to your questline! Dark Core is helping GED in return for money and GED giving them Herman? This is bad news, we better go and tell Mrs X. I don't. We need to find Herman. NOW! Ok, let's set up a road block. Time to bust Herman out! Oh no, they've noticed us. RIDE ASH, RIDE! Hello everyone. Herman, these are the people who have been trying, and failing, to rescue you for the past 2 YEARS. Excellent. So there we have it, the GED quests. I didn't like the way the Darko was in the quest line as I enjoyed having GED as a separate set of quests to Dark Core rather than them all being mixed together. However, the animations were great, like how they have always been in the past with these quests. The race was crazy, I really enjoyed the mix of obstacles. It's great to finally have Herman back in game but, like I said, I wish that the GED and main story quest lines weren't getting mixed up. There was also some interesting animations with the box scene.
What did you think of the quests? Wow, a pretty big update this week! I was very excited to get home and play through it. It was about time that we got Herman quests so I'm really happy that he's now rescued. I will be blogging about these quests in more detail but it takes a very long time to get that together and I'm just scraping together enough time to write anything at all. As well as the new quests, we got three new horses added to the game - North Swedish horses. Last time, I really liked these horses so I was excited to be able to see some more of them. I just think they're the best that SSO has made recently and the texturing is so beautiful. There was one at Valedale and two at Firgrove, so I nipped around between those two places (doing a bit of training on the way) to look at the horses and here is what I think about them (bear in mind that I love the breed in general). This one is very similar to one of the horses before, just without the speckles. Like it's twin previously, I am not so keen on the face due to 'clumpy' colours. In this light, this horse looks really beautiful and I love the colouring a lot. However, in other light it does look very purple (spoiler, you can't get purple horses) which apparently makes it very hard to match with any tack. This is a big pity because it is such a lovely horse. Originally, I thought that this one would be my favourite. When I was reading through the new page in the cafe it just looked so much more beautiful than the other ones but now I'm not so sure. Although I love the colours, mane, body, featherings - almost everything, the face is a massive let down. It seems very empty and plane - like it needs more texture. I'm glad that it doesn't have a bright pink nose (such as some other SSO horses) but I just think there is something missing there that the horse would look better for having. However, besides the face it's a great horse. This was actually the one that ended up being my favourite. Despite the colours not being my favourite (although I still quite like them) everything else makes up for it. The texture on the coat, the gradient on the feet, the mane, the shading on the face is perfect and the details at the face are lovely. I think that this horse was pulled of beautiful with everything being just right and looking fabulous together. I think I have my winner! Overall, the horses weren't bad but I did prefer the previous one. However, there was still many great things about them (and some improvements to be made also).
The final part of the update was SSO fixing loads of bugs and adding in a way of seeing your wild horses colours in tack shops. It's nice to here about all those annoying bugs being fixed, but we haven't heard anything about the club name glitch yet - I hope it's fixed. Hopefully this will make the game easier to play for a lot of people. Which of these horses is your favourite and why? Sunlight streamed through the cracks between the shutters. Yes, I didn’t know that shutters still existed either until I moved here. Apparently, however, they do. In Mistfall, it is common practise to use shutters due to the state that the sea mist causes normal glass windows.
Immediately after noticing all of this, I pulled my head back under the thick woolen blankets and multi-layered sheets - it was freezing. I had always hated the cold, always opting for warmer Summer’s weather, but now I was trapped it it. However, in my time so far at Jacey and Matt’s, I had learned a trick or two. Sleepily, I pulled my clothes under the covers and got changed (which takes more skill then you might think, try getting tight leather leggings on sitting down). Still, actually removing myself from the beg was freezing. Jacey had set out a mug of steamy tea (it had a strange colour and taste which lead me to the suspicion that they made it with pine needles here) along with a bowl of porridge which had been topped in cloudberries which were in the shape of a smiling face. I wasn’t five for God’s sake. Despite my annoyance, however, food is food so I wolfed it down eagerly but I did make a point of removing the cloudberries and leaving them on the side. When I had first come to leave with Mat and Jacey, I had done everything I could to get out of morning chores. Now, however, I had come to almost like them. It was quite calming in the morning to take all of the dirty tin bowls and mugs down to the spring to wash in the water there. Then, I had to make my bed and sweep the floor of the room before making sure all of the shutters were open (wasn’t it cold enough already?). Normally, I hurried about these tasks but today I needed time to think. I needed to think about what had happened last night. About how Matt had been there for me and Mum hadn’t. Wasn’t your mum meant to be your greatest protector? Why wasn’t my mum like that? I watched the grains of porridge from the bowls drifting off down the lake where little tiny fish came along to nibble them. The fish here were nothing like out of the movies. They weren’t colourful, or big. All they were was little moving lines that dashed through the waters in groups and were a dull green-grey colour. Overall, not very exciting but they could still be fascinating to watch if they were being attacked by a bird or a larger fish. They would start to duck and dodge. Invisible singles would be sent through the group and, like magic, half would go one way and half would go the other just for them to loop back around and come back together. I hated to admit it, but it was sort of beautiful. My hands were so cold after the washing that I held them in front of the fire at the ranger station for a solid 10 minutes before even considering moving. Warming your hands up on a fire is a funny business. First they’re too cold, and then they got too hot. However, the backs of your hands are still absolutely freezing while the fronts are boiling so you have to hold your hands at odd angles just to try and warm the hole hand up. I sighed, every little thing just has to be difficult. Hello! No promises about a post tomorrow because I have an exam tomorrow so I’ll be revising really hard tomorrow evening. I have another writing project in mind which will be twice weekly so I think that this will be my last Mistfall one. I’ve had this poem in my head for ages so I thought I may as well with it down and post it. I know it’s very random but I just had to write it down. Would people be interest in more poems or are they not considered cool right now?
Near far, and near after, Strange things lay in the water. Lurking in the deep murky tides Of Fort Pinta, there is a great surprise. Tourist, I wouldn’t put your toe there, Something may catch you unaware! Or you might just find the ocean dyed red, And that you have ended up dead. No, please, don’t walk along the wooden beam! Things are not all as perfect as they would seem. All it takes is one wrong move while you’re having a lark, And you’ve been eaten by the FORT PINTA SHARK!!! (I know poetry isn’t meant to be cool. Ok!) Fashionably, this is online a week and a half late. Yay? So, rather than writing a blo about my post, I thought that I'd just link this video made by the amazing Fluffy Anny (if you're ever looking for play throughs of quests, her channel is the place to go): So what did I think of the quests? Although I was grateful for the xp that they gave, I was actually pretty disappointed. I admit that I expected more from the quests than what I got. There were no good animations in the whole thing, which made it feel pretty flat and boring. The quests went on forever, making them feel tedious, boring and like a chore. Trying to get the votes from everyone just, in my opinion, took too long and I didn't find it enjoyable having run around Jorvik forever for each person. However, i will say that it was pretty cool to finally be able to interact with the Dundull stable, since we hadn't previously met the owner.
It was nice to see the feminist mention about councilMEN which is something that I have previously contacted SSO, and blogged, about, so I'm very happy that we now have a female leader in Dundull! I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with male leaders, but I just think that there should be an equal balance of both male and female leaders around. So that was pretty nice to see and it's also great that SSO are educating people about elections and how corrupt they can be. Overall, the message behind these quests were great but the actual quests were not so. What did you think of these quests? 3 years ago I was wandering Steve's Farm in the dead of night to find three people standing together all in "Frosty Roses". When it was just a few hours old, I joined that club and, from the start, I knew that I'd joined a crazy welcoming bunch of idiots. Three years on, most of the original idiots have moved on from FR but the atmosphere of the club is the same. I may have gone from member to owner, but the club still feels like the one that I joined 3 years ago.
Before FR, I remember thinking how lucky people were to own big clubs and how sad it was that I was never a lucky one. Well, about 4 months later I remember thinking how strange it was that I had been lucky enough to get a chance in this amazing club just because I was in the right place at the right time. And yes, it hasn't all been plain sailing. For both good and bad reasons, I broken down into tears about this club (first time it disbanded and when I got co owner being the most unforgettable). It has made me excited, nervous, angry, happy, hyper, stressed and every other possible emotion that happens from hanging out with a crazy bunch of humans for 3 years. Today, we replicated one of FR's first events (which a whole 4 people turned up to). I love this club so much and I'm very excited to be writing this for our 4th birthday next year! Another Wednesday, another update. Just a little notice: I will no longer be posting about the Wednesday updates on Wednesdays. This is purely because I am very busy Wednesday nights and never have the chance to sit down and write (like I'm lucky enough to currently have the chance to do). This was a very nice little update, so let's go straight into it. Firstly, we are finally able to remove our hat and gloves in game. You have no idea how long I've waited for this! No more trying to find hats to match my outfit, I can just take them off. I think the hair looks great but the hands do need a bit more texture as currently they look a bit weird, but I still love the feature. The second main part of this update was three new running pet foxes, found in Dundull. Here they are: My favourite is probably the white one, followed by grey followed by brown-grey. It's the same thing as with all foxes. They're very sweet and the way they run around with you is lovely, but they're too expensive. These ones cost 249sc, 349sc and the most expensive pet of all time (the white one), 549sc. I think that that's a rip off - there are a lot of awesome horses you can get for that much. Due to the fact that it runs, I'd accept anywhere below 300 as "ok" but any more than that is ridiculous.
A decent update if you ignore the prices on the foxes. Did you get a new fox? I was going to do the quests today but there's a rant which requires my attention. Today SSO have announced that they're trialing a new "In Game Chat Safety" feature.
What is it? ★ It means that non-star riders, people on a non-fee paying trial and ex-paying star riders cannot do the following things: ★ Type on, or open, chat ★ Create clubs ★ Update club information ★ Send mail to friends Why? ★ To stop people just creating newb accounts to break rules with no consequences ★ To be able to track players using their payment details (only given out to the police) What's the issue? Well, here's my issue. I think that it's just another money grab to encourage people to get to be star riders. Where's the one big hole in the whole thing? Well, ex-paying star riders have validated their accounts as not being just there to break rules by paying in the past, also SSO would be able to track who they are in the real world from this. However, they are not allowed to even update the club calendar for 'safety'. They cannot talk with their friends for 'safety'. Where is the logic? Seriously, I get they want to make the game safer but this will not help. It is discouraging newer players also from wanting to continue playing as they're not experiencing the social aspect of the game from the start. It completely changes the atmosphere of the game all because SSO want more money and they haven't even made a good job of hiding it. Good job SSO, good job I don't know if it's a glitch or if it's something that SSO have decided to do on purpose, but there can now be more than one of each club name. I think that it is now possible to have two of each club name. That's right, two Frosty Roses, two Red Hawks, two whatever you want. Luckily, someone I know took the second version of FR so people won't be getting that in the wrong hands, but it's so weird, and annoying. I presume that it's a glitch but how are they going to fix it? They can't disband people's clubs where there are double names because it isn't the people's fault. But it is ridiculous that there could be two lots of FR. This should not be an issue and should not be happening. What do you think about this most recent major glitch?
I'm home and writing again, finally! I've just got out of the shower and need to sleepy bu i still have time to write this. I just managed to finish quests today but I (obviously) started to explore the update on Wednesday so it's quite a long way to cast my mind back to. The first thing in this update was the continuation of the Valentine's day celebrations with another race. It gets you 750xp (great for training) and a heart. Also, the jumps were really nice with water jumps and cross bar jumps which I absolutely loved, I wish we could have a permanent race this this! I therefore managed to complete my v-day set without having to be in a group which also made me really like this race (no one wants to have to find friends to race with). So I think that this race was a great addition. Another part of the update was updated cows. I made friends with one in Mistfall so here is what they look like: There wasn't a lot of a difference to the old cows besides the fact that they now look quite a bit more realistic, which is nice. I think that this modification was good and have no complaints with it. The cows just look more cow-y. Finally, the main part of this update was quests for Rania's mother to be elected: I have just finished them and will upload a blog through tomorrow (or Tuesday). I thought that the quests were ok but a bit tediously spread out in places. However, I loved the point made about female councilwomen! Also, I managed to reach liked with Dundull and there was a new trailer unlocked - always great for lazy people like me.
What did you think of the update? I have just finished packing and am currently logging on SSO. However, it's currently 17:47 and I'm leaving at 18:00 so I'm just saying goodbye to my club. I haven't had time to finish the quests or write any posts so I hope to finish the quests when I get back on Sunday so that I can upload them Sunday night. There will be no post tomorrow. I really hope that I'll be able to do the update post on Sunday and then do another SSO fan fiction on Monday. Good bye for now lads, see you on Sunday!
I feel like I'm going to explode. I have loads of things that I need to get done as an owner and I need to get stuff done IRL as well. I haven't even had time to finish playing through the quests (still feeling like I will explode). It's all because I'm away on the weekend so -explodes- I'm trying to pack for that, get an assignment in today (part of my final grade) and do all of the owner things I was meant to do ages ago. Ah well. Hopefully I will get some posts for Friday and Saturday ready tomorrow (once I've finished the quests so I can FINALLY write about them) but we will see. Wish me luck for surviving tomorrow.
Today I popped onto YouTube to watch a video from the amazing HarmonyNice. However, in my suggestions box came up a video from Star Stable. I opened it up and had a watch of it and decided to write about what I saw, here is the video: So this is something quite different to what Star Stable have done before. They are going to be going around looking at different uses for horses/ why people love them. Honestly, it's great to see that interacting with the idea of real horses, rather than magical pixel ones on a game. I probably will not watch the series, as I find their videos for childish (although I understand they are aimed at younger children, so I am not criticising them for that).
I do believe that it's good to teach people about what the game is really about - horses. I think that this is a lovely little project, although maybe not something that I am personally interested in. What do you think? Tired Li (yes I did just talk about myself in third person) is off to bed. I actually have all of the photos for a post but right now, sleep sounds amazing and I need it. See you tomorrow!
So why am I not finding the Valentine's day letters this year? Well, to be honest, it's a lot of work and you get nothing more than a few Jorvik Shillings and things like picnics and BBQS - so why would I want to? I wish there were actual prizes to be won! Just a little thought before I head off to bed - g'night.
As a night owl, I often take photos late in the evening and the lighting on SSO is awful. I don't like posting them unedited anywhere because they just look bad so here is a little guide to editing them on Weebly! It's very simple and short but I hope it will be helpful. Here was the before picture: Ok, now open the Weebly editor (you can find this once you have uploaded a photo to the website). Follow these steps:
And here is the finished product: It's still better to take photos in the daytime but this way means that late owls, like me, can still have nice photos to upload online. I hope this is useful for anyone who was unsure on how to do it - good night!
Massive update from SSO today so give me a second to get into it! The main two parts of the update was the Valentine's Day celebrating coming as well as a brand new cosplay shop. So, without further ado, let's go and look at the cosplay shop first. It is found in the mall and when you walk inside, you get the best sight ever! For looks, it's officially my favourite shop. I always love the idea of different worlds, so the details of the comics just make Jorvik all the more real to me. It's also great that SSO are embracing different types of people, including people who cosplay. I was talking about this not long ago and I still think that it's a great thing. Although the shop and certainly won a prize for looks, more importantly let's look a the clothes and tack that they sell! (Click on the photo to see my opinions about it.) Of course, it was also the Valentine's update. Recently, they've been making the Valentines day shops so much more interesting so I was very interested to look at it and I think that it looks beautiful. Here are the clothes in the shop (I'll pick out my favourites to talk about at the end): Firstly, as anyone in FR will know, I love like Canter Ella Valentine's jacket (and haven't changed out of it yet). It's just like the normal one but I prefer the colouring so I was really happy with buying it. Valentines day is certainly a very very expensive, but there's some quite nice clothing compared to other festivals. I'm glad to see them bringing back old things as well as some (more stylish) newer clothes. I really like the saddle pad in the top left of the photo to the top right and I love the cheap flowers that were being sold - great value. As for quests, I'm sad to say that they've taken away two old favourites of mine: the quest to get your own teddy bear and the quest to make the perfect Valentine's cake. I know that they could sometimes be boring but they were part of the festival and I will actually miss them. They brought back an old favourite from last year though, the Valentine's race. Luckily, they've changed the system from last time. So previously, you had to get three hearts before exchanging them for an item. The item would be random so it might be a new part of the Valentine's set, a part of the Valentine's set you already had or just something like a hay bale. Basically, it was very difficult and time consuming to collect the set. Luckily, this year it is not random what you get and you only need to swap one heart for each item. This, I think, is a lot better and a lot easier for everyone. I have not collected the whole set (due to SSO consistently throwing all iMac users off the game at once) but I do have most of it: Weirdly, instead of reminding me of Valentine's day, it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. I'm actually a little bit disappointed after the clothes last time was so beauty and wearable and then this time they look slightly terrifying. Before I go, I hope that everyone had a great Valentine's day and here was my annual Valentine's outfit:
The title of this post says it all - forgotten quest lines. I feel that there's two main quest lines in game, in Epona, which have been abandoned. This is really sad because I loved both quest lines very much and would love to continue them. So here they are, the quests which I hope will be added to this year: GED! Herman is still held captive by them. It was almost exactly this time last year that we got these quests (so maybe we'll have some more coming soon?). We still have to go inside GED's office and there's a whole mini area behind the wall here. These quests have always been great quality with a thrilling quest line, so I'm super excited to see what is coming in the future. Ah, Ricky! For the animations, the best quests out there - a whole martial arts. The last quests were amazing, with a ring constructed in the arena. Next, Ricky is battling Ivan Drake - something that will surely be very exciting. Also, at some point in the quest line will come the Winterwell stables, which was actually on our areas to be discovered for a time. I think that this could be so exciting to continue because previously the quests were amazing and they will only be even more amazing in the future! I hope SSO didn't back out of these quests because of the amount of work that will have to go into them.
What quest lines do you want to be continued? During the Mistfall quests, we met this character: When I first saw her, I was quite surprised. Compare this character to some of the characters that we meet at the start of the game. She is so much more dynamic and interesting. She seems so much more real and actually has a personality and fashion sense (although it might not be one we all agree with). There's a person behind those glasses, a story line that we can pick out and write. Maybe I'm just noticing all of this as a writing, but it's so much different than when you talk to Jenna who is so flat. I think that it's great that SSO have started to add more real characters so not only does it make the game more interesting, it allows younger children to be less narrow minded. Cough, maybe it's time for someone from the LGBT+ community to be included somewhere in game? I think so!
