So, SSO hinted at this yesterday and today here it is. The announcement of a new look starter horse. So here it is: So what have they done? They’ve made the gaits smoother and given the horse a more natural shape, which is good. I do really like it. They’ve also updated all other horses that had this shape.
But, I really want to keep my old one. There’s so much hate going around in the community about people saying this but I don’t really care - it’s true. Lovemagic has looked like that for over 3 years and I’d like a say in how he is going to look in the future. I wish that we had a choice about the new starters like how people’s old arabs weren’t just updated. I guess it just would be awkward with the new starters joining. But it does feel like SSO are erasing all of their past to make the game more marketable. Well, they are a company I guess. So, when will we get these updates? Well, they said very soon so in the next update or the one after that? I’m getting my memory photos and videos ready for the next update! What do you think about the new horses?

Today I finally got the chance to look at the new arabs. I’m sorry that I’ve been inactive, it’s because I have a load of pressurising stuff IRL - fun fun fun! But here are the new colours of arabs, let me tell you now - I liked them more than the first set. Their colours were a lot more "my style". I haven't bought any yet but I think I might, I'm just not sure which one! I really liked the grey and bay one. There's less plasicy although still more than I would like. Also all of the features are very sharp. But their eyes are just so beautiful.
What did you think about the new colours? Wow, I didn’t think they’d be this week because of the lack of information prior to their release. But here they are, so let’s take a look at them. Hmm… They aren’t awful but I don’t think I’ll be buying one, partly because I don’t like the colours and partly because I don’t like the remake. It isn’t that surprising as I hate most remakes… opps… Actually, the body is quite realistic to the actual arab (in real life, with their upturned tails, small heads and long legs) but I just am not feeling any of the colours. So I actually really like the body, but I’m never a fan of an all black horse or all ginger. I was thinking about buying the brown but the white bit really ruined it haha, I just don’t like it. I think I’m going to wait until some more colours come out and, if I like any, I’ll buy it. Also, SSO have changed the launcher to a more Summery theme, which I thought was nice. I still think it would be cool to have some kind of competition to have your work featured on the launcher! Finally, it’s the end of the Star Stable Show…unless something big happens (I’m thinking new area or the ability to decorate your home stable) You can vote for ideas for the next series - just check out their YouTube. Ok, well, night ♥
So, Firgrove. It’s new but is it better or not? Hm well I’ll start by saying it’s not awful before I go into much more detail but that there are still aspects about the old one I prefer. The view gives a good comparison but I’m going to talk about each new detail!
Lamps - I do like the new lamps. I think that they have more character and it just brings the heart of the town to life. Benches - It’s nice that the benches are a little bit more fancy and realistic, nice for photos. General buildings - This is probably where it goes wrong for me. I just don’t like the green roofs! I like the rest but the green roofs really are a large part of the area and it’s a part that (à mon avis) completely ruins it although this the unnatural blue windows. Plants - I love the window plants as they’re things we haven’t seen before (the wreaths particularly scream Firgrove at me). However, I’m not sure about the Fort Pinta touch with the blossom and the tall purple plants. It fells like they don’t it the area so well. Stables - Not a lot to say. I think that the stables are, however, the most “plasticy” thingy there. Town hall - I think that’s it’s nice FG has it’s own character to the club hall now but I don’t think it fits the village. I feel like the people of FG would gather in one of the big houses rather than a special hall with a red carpet. Cafe - Nice changes to the cafe! It now feels like a small family run business but I dislike the plastic blue windows. Fence and gates - I like the fence, it seems really nice and fencey (what was I meant to say about it?). I thought that the gates were lovely, I love the horse sculptures. Also the way that there are ladders really bring life into it and make it feel real. So there we are. FG wasn’t as bad as I thought since a lot of the buildings weren’t too cartoony but the green roofs, bright blue windows and stable ruined it for me. I’m also finally starting to feel better (hence why I had the energy to write this). So I’m off to bed ready for a productive day tomorrow! Today was mostly spent on editing these two videos. I’m happy with the first one but not so much the second one - oh well. I need to get better at commentating, there was very little materiel to work with in the end just an hour of film. I loved the quests and I’ll talk about them under the videos (spoilers). Ok so I was a bit annoyed that we rescued Justin rather than finding Anne because I prefer Anne and I don’t give a damn about Justin. But the animations were very cool and my particular favourite was when we turned into the DC men. I enjoyed the flying horse bit but it seemed for convenient rather than likely if you ask me, but it still looked cool. The story line was a bit short for 15 months of waiting though. Just, hijack barge and save Justin from being eaten by sharks. But the animations were worth it! However, I know most people wanted to go to Pandoria to rescue Anne which they said we would do but in the future.
Well hi there. Story quests were today! Oh my god they were amazing and not a dissapointment at all. The animations were awesome, the quest line was awesome (although I’m not done yet) and I really can’t wait for tomorrow. I filmed the whole thing (which I will edit up tomorrow). So, yes, I basically love love love it so far and I’m excited to rescue Justin. I love how the quests involved you as well - but I’ll talk about the whole thing when I’m done!
Here is a photo from the the quest when you have to find the horse care stuff. Well that’s weird… I remember having to run around the whole yard and being the newb that I was then, that was quite hard. But now it’s all helpfully on one hay bale for you to click on. Also, things like shortening the Bobcats Race and making LT cheaper, make me think that newer players had it so much easier and better than older ones. Oh well, life if life.
Hello! Short post here on a little though I had 4.5 metres in the air, balancing with no hands at climbing tonight. It’s about ownership and what makes a good owner. I think that it’s easy to run a club when you’re full with 100 people waiting to join. When you have 1K followers on Instagram, 50 people at open events, 20 club members at each normal event. It’s not that hard to run. Yes, it does take some skill. To look after 49 other people, to keep up events, to organise and to still keep that family vibe takes skill. But I think the true mark of an owner is when things aren’t going well, When people are leaving, when you’re finding it hard to get members. When you’re getting hate, when people inside and outside the club are talking about you being a bad owner. When you want to disband. When you know that that would be so so so much easier. I think a true owner’s love for their club lets them full through this. It stops them disbanding and they keep going. They build or rebuild their family. So rather than counting a good owner with their current successes, look back at their past and see what they’ve had to face but I think that the ones who kept going haven’t really said much about what’s happening to the rest of the world. So if you’re in this position keep going and one day, if you look up, your club will flourish.
Disclaimer: these are just some thoughts of mine, I’m not try to peck or aim this at anyone. This isn’t based on examples, this is just my thoughts. My hopes are that Valentines Day will go tomorrow with the update (and that we'll get some more quests because I am less then 200 xp from level 20 and it's annoying me). I like Valentines Day but I'm getting bored of the tacky hearts - I just want Jorvik back!
I have finally managed to collect the whole Valentines set (there are glasses but I hate wearing glasses). It's quite nice although I'd like the saddle pad to be pinker because the whole outfit sort of clashes and doesn't look that nice to wear which is a shame because SSO have recently been making quite nice outfits. If you're wondering where to get things from, I believe that everything is from V-Day quests apart from the ribbons which are from the friendship race and the wraps + bag which are from letters. The friendship race also gives you a box of chocolates (you can put it in your saddle bag), bridles and glasses. Plus you can get some flowers for you saddle bag through around quest. So clothes wise it hasn't been a bad year. However, I just want Easter to get a move on. P.S. Happy Pancake day How are you getting on with the Valentines Day race? I did a load of races today with the amazing Lilah Applewood, Ruby Riverbell, Louisa Bluepie, Sara Windstar and Alice Southyard. I collected so many hearts and got nothing in return until the very last trade where I got the tail ribbon that the community has been obsessing over! I now have both the ribbons and the glasses. Tomorrow I might try to get a bridle but I don’t know if I can be bothered. The race is too much in my opinion. It’s just too hard to get rewards. I was racing for 1 and a half hours for one ribbon - I mean come on. My suggestions are:
- The race is shorter - It’s easier to get a prize - You only need to swap one heart Oh well, I have the things I wanted to get and I wasn’t overly keen with the other stuff. I have found all of the letters apart from the elusive one at Cape West - I swear I’ve searched everywhere. Does anyone know if it gets you anything actually worth while? Have you all ready the article about SSO ambassadors? If not let me explain it. SSO ambassadors are a handful of certain players who both do Instagram and YouTube and now will do several collaborations with SSO. The first one takes the form of a give away where each person is giving away 10 days of Star Rider and Star Coins in return for some people answering a question such as "what is your favorite SSO memory". The people doing it are: Drahoslava Dragoncake - Instagram - YouTube Elizabeth Riverland - Instagram - YouTube Esmeralda Silverforce - Instagram - YouTube Melissa Seahall - Instagram - YouTube Renee Bluebridge - Instagram - YouTube Stacy Flowernight - Instagram - YouTube Although I can agree that these people have great talent, I've noticed that SSO haven't linked any blogs even though I know at least one of them has a very active blog which is linked in her Instagram. Ah I suppose SSO bloggers will always be over shadows by the other social media - annoyingly. Overall, I actually can't see the point in it. I think that they'll just promote the game. SSO said they wanted to highlight their work but if they really wanted to do that it would involve more people if they did a weekly shout out. Nice idea but I just don't see the point.
Today I had a speaking competition and I thought it's time to remind people that it's important not to compare yourself to others. I'm so proud of my team mates and myself for today. We didn't make any mistakes and I couldn't have asked for more. So what we didn't win? The winning team was truly fantastic but I'm not bothered. I'm not bothered because I had so much fun in this competition that winning actually doesn't seem that important. It sounds so much like I'm trying to be the perfect person and be like la la taking part is important but I'm not. I just am so proud of how we did as a team, not how we did compared to the other teams. You might not be the best so what? If it's something that you truly enjoy then your rank compared to others shouldn't be important. Thank you for reading my thoughts on this!
So guess who forgot she hadn’t actually finished the quests? Yes, me. But on the bright side that means that we can talk about foals. I have mentioned them before both on my blog and Instagram. I actually received some comments from people saying that it wouldn’t happen. I don’t want to say I told you so but well I mean, I told you so.
The foals are due to come out next week but there are many unanswered questions. For example, will the app be free, how much SC will the foals cost? I know we aren’t going to get them for free so can everyone please stop posting “I will be so annoyed if we have to pay”. I’ve read that we’ll be able to train the foals and introduce them to our game play, so of course we’re going to have to pay in some form. -sigh- I’m very excited for the foals and I wonder what they will bring! For those of you who follow my Instagram (@lisilentland) you'll know that last night I called it right! The update was brand new Mustang modles. We haven't got the nail bar, new story quests or racing bonuses yet; all of which were promissed in 2016. I hope these come out soon because I am looking forward to them. Let's take a peek at these Mustangs! I really liked the mustang breed and I do like the new colours. WIth the grey however, it's the normal complant: it's too samey. I feel like I prefer more of a pattern on greys (although this one does have a few spots). With expection to the spotty one, the legs seem rushed and in blocky colours and so does the shading. However, I really like the effect of white and brown on the brown one, and I like the spots, I just wish it was blended better together. I can see why the spotty one is the favourite of my club Frosty Roses (which you could follow on @frosty.roses). I pretty like the overall pattern but it's my normal complaint about the colour of the mane as in place it literally just suddenly turns grey? It also does this at the bottom of the tail. I think that my favourite is the spotty, followed by the brown and then finally the grey. Overall: 6.7/10 As normal, Star Stable introduced some beautiful new clothes and tack to Jorvik City Mall. Let's take a look! The clothes at the moment are honestly so beautiful. I love the top as it's something I would wear in real life riding (although only on a hack or floorwork). It's such a nice shade of brown which is easy to work into an outfit. I do think that it's not really suited to Winter so this one will have to wait for my Spring shop before I bring it home! Although I like the trousers, I feel tht quite a few very similar things have been coming out reccently. However, they are still really nice! The boots have a lovely pattern but remain looking realistic. It's a yes from me! Finally the hat can be described in one way - stylish. I really like the beeds for show as they look nice whilst keeping it looking like something you could actually wear out riding.
Moving onto the tack. I am not so sure of the mix in blue and brown, but I love the styles of them both. I'm 99% sure that the saddle is a Western saddle and then the bridle is an English bridle? I'm not so sure about wearing these together. The saddle pad is perfect for riding out in the Winter, it looks cosy while fitting into many outfits. The same goes for the boots, perfect for Winter riding in style and warmth. There we are, my opinions on the update. What did you like about the new horses? The mall. We have all been there, whether to quest, buy clothes, meet friend or even see Raptor. The mall opened in Spring 2015, much to everyones’ excitement. We all flocked there to see the new clothes and at first we flocked in Evian. The clothes were simply other clothes moved into the mall. Over time we saw more and more clothes coming, on a regular bases. Is this good for the game? Well it means that Star Stable have the chance to experiment with clothes. we know this as we have seen a massive rise in the quality. Plus this means that there is something for everyone and their style. By this I think the mall is good. However, it is one of the few places in game that both Star Riders and Non Star Riders go. Most Star Riders stick to Star Rider areas but they do go to the mall. I like this because the newer members of the game can start to feel the true vibe of their server. On the other hand, more bullying may occur because of the level mix. Overall, I do like the fact that the mall is a chance for newer and older players to fix and that it gives everyone a chance to enjoy their own style!
It’s finally feeling like Christmas. It took 2 days of Frosty Roses theme week, cold and tucked up reading a book (Eliza Rose) in front of the fire before I felt it! So have you been keeping up with the Star Stable advent calendar? Well here are the days and their gifts/ codes: 14th - Jumper (W1NT3RSW3ATER) 15th - Hat (W1NT3RH0H0HAT) 16th - digital wallpaper 17th - saddle pad (WINT3RP4D16) 18th - 20% off SSO merch 19th - saddle (W0WS4DDL3) 20th - digital wallpaper It’s been a really good year so far with the SSO advent calendar: I feel the outfits are less ‘newby’ and I will actually wear them rather then mixing it with other clothing! It’s good that as the players fashion sense has changed, so has SSOs. As I was tucked in front of the fire I saw a video from one of my favourite SSO YouTubers, Northena. I decided to watch through the video and I was amazed: This theory makes so much sense! I think that this is awesome and I am getting so much inspiration from it to write a story. However, I think that your character isn’t quite a reincarnation. I think that your character is simply a descendent and has the powers ‘switched on’. I really like this idea as I think it explains a lot of things and isn’t that far fetched.
On the subject of the main story quests, have you seen the new loading page of Dark Core? It’s really cool and I hope it means new story quests soon! Some think tomorrow but I doubt it as I think they’d give us a sneak peak first. Almost certainly we’ll be saving Anne but I hop there is more training in there as well! It’s here, Jorvik City is here! There’s so much to write about, quests, area, new things, home stable furniture. But I climb on Wednesday so I recorded the quests but haven’t blogged about them or the clothes yet, that’s my plan for tomorrow. Tomorrow I will also expand on the home stable furniture since you get it through quests it will fit best there. Today I will jus talk about all three of the areas inside the City and use the captions to take you through them. But before I start I’d like to say a few things, First SSO has improved so much over the years. There are so many awesome things in their new area. I really like that. However, I have two complaints. First you can’t take your horse. It’s the horse game and you horse stays lonely at FP? Also it is a ‘closed’ map. This means that you cannot run around all of it and you have to virtually travel between them. Click on an image to see my view on it! I feel like that is the posh place in town where people who want a slightly quiter version on town life live. It's my favourite of the 3 places. Now, let's move onto Governors Falls (intesting name). There's so much to happen around this area, this is certainly the centre of town! Moving onto misterious Pier 13... There are so many potentional quests to happen here, I can't wait!
Overall: The new area is very realistic and has a lot of future updates with the opening of Jollisters, DC, and many quests with everyone we haven't met yet from the guy on his phone to the dance class. I wish that it was bigger but I understand that with this much detail and new code it must have taken a very long time. I hope that we get Star Acadmey type quests soon as well as main story quests with Dark Core. I would also like some of the areas in the city to be opened up over time, but still quite frequently. I am most excited to visit the museum as I hope that you can learn about Jorvik's history there. A mssive thank you to the SSO team for this amazing area. Also they mentioned a treat in FP? It was some presents that you put in your saddle bag. I thought that it was a really cute area and the presents weren't too expensive so I got all three: Jorvik City! It looks so beautiful. If you haven’t already watch the trailer, if you have it’s time for a refresh! So what do we know:
1. You get a bus from Fort Pinta. 2. There is a statue of Aideen. 3. There are several eating places. 4. There is a town square. 5. There are quests, possibly to do with the fountain. 6. There is a kind of kitchen? 7. There is a shop for antiques (possibly the museum) 8. There is some kind of florist 9. Trams are the main form of travel 10. Jollister is a shop that is ‘opening soon’ There is furniture in the windows, could it sell things for our home stables? 11. There is a Dark Core quests - new main story line quests! It looks really good but I am disappointed that you most likely won’t be able to take your horse. Also, I hope that it is only open for higher levels, maybe 13 plus. I can’t wait for more main line story quests but if I’m honest I can’t get that excited for Jorvik City. The cities are not what I play SSO for, it is the horses ad the landscape. I feel like South Hoof was to balance that out. I feel like this won’t be a part of the map, it will be like the mall, disconnected from the rest of the game. Well, it might be better then first looks. What did you think? The new home stable trailer! It looks so good, I can’t wait. I’ll be spending more time in there as it is becoming a bigger my cosy area. I like to hang out and chat to friends so something like that is perfect! So there are two rows of stalls, one per horse. I’m guessing that one of these rows you will add boxes on when you pay to expand your stable. Then there is a wash area near your wardrobe (possibly down the end). There are two ‘box like’ rooms which seem to be for riders that has a window out onto the main stable and one for tack. One the first clip you can see two boxes with doors, so it might be in them. I hope that you can use some of these things and that they aren’t just for show. There is also a feed room! This feels a lot more like a stable that someone would own in real life, so that’s amazing! I can’t wait but I just hope that you can do simple things like sit at the stable. Also, I hope that something happens to the stables around Jorvik or the home stables move locations, else the sizing doesn’t work.
What do you think? It’s been such a busy few days. I’ve had a kayaking club social on Wednesday, on Thursday I had my school awards evening and tonight I had stage school. But I have finally had to time to sit down and write my review on the new horses! So let’s go and take a look. On Wednesday, SSO released these three new colours in the breeds Icelandic, Lipizzan and Morgan. They’re all in the colours dapple grey and my favourite is the morgan, as I find the others slightly too dark for my taste. But the Morgan is perfect with its main colours on the lower body. I love the colour light grey, so it was live at first sight! On the Icelandic, can you see the dark shading under the head? I think that looks slightly strange and I am not sure if it is something for me! I think the Icelandic’s hair is too light for the body. Although I don’t like the colour of the lipizzan as much as I like the morgans, the mane still matches the body. I am happy that with these colouring you can’t see the really dark muscles that you have seen on horses in the past.
Overall 8.9/10 |
