I'm so used to all of my horses being maxed that I completely forgot about this little beauty who wasn't yet - my arabian Farway. When i remembered, I started up training again. However, due to the amount of studying I have to do if I want to stay with the class, I decided to do it while watching study podcasts. It was great: I learned a lot and got Far up a level - I'd highly recommend it to anyone!
Today happened something that a lot of players have been waiting for for a very long time… WILD HORSES! Yes, that’s right, you can now go wild! No more glitching, no more banning, no more pining. Just at the flick of a button, you can go wild. Here it is:
Also, I really like the fact that you can change whether or not you can see other people being wild. Most of the time, wild horses annoy me, but there are times I want to see them. I think that this was a great way of giving everyone a choice. It also means in events, if someone is being annoying and going wild, I haven’t got to see them. It’s great that SSO have FINALLY listened to the community on this. It shows that, despite what it may seem at times, in the end our opinions are taken into account. Editor, YouTubers, role-players and just normal players alike must love this update. And if you don’t? Then just turn it off and pretend it doesn’t exit! Here are some photos that FR took while enjoying the new update.
YOUTUBE UPDATE: I’m currently working on my biggest project yet. It’s taking a lot of editing, but I’m really excited. Put it like this, it’s something I’ve written, as a video…
Hello! Ok, I feel like I’ve been very distant over the last week, but things are getting better. I just need a weekend and some friends around and things are cool. I’m not someone to talk about the way I’m feeling but when I’m not feeling so great, I tend to just like spending time in the real world a bit.
On Monday, SSO released this video on Instagram:
The video showed these horses galloping along. Their caption read, “We’ve heard that this Wednesday is gonna be wild...! 😏🐎 #GoWild “ Lots of players think that this might be SSO finally releasing a way to go wild - which think would be super cool and quite plausible. However, SSO also used this phrase when they last released Madison quests, so it could also be that. Both seem really cool. It is quite likely to wild because of the fact that they horses galloping, are not Welsh Ponies, like the horses at South Hoof, but it could be a change in the story quests. I think it could go either way, or maybe something completely different. We will see in the update!
Hello there! I’m currently in the car on the way home from visiting family. Yes, it’s dark and no I can’t see my keyboard (thank god for touch typing). I haven’t been on SSO since Thursday (but I shall be logging on the second I get home) so I haven’t got a lot to write about related to current SSO matters. I feel my blog has been dead recently, but I’m getting into the flow of writing on the bus on the way home, giving me an hour to sprawl my opinions across the page. So today I’m going to start a new fan fiction serise, it’s been ages since I’ve done one. I have actually written something similar before, but I wanted to make it better and turn it into more of a long term plot line. We’ll see, we’ll see. Anyway, here it is!
Katja cursed under her breath, she’d seriously messed up. Bunking off Dark RIder business is no small deal, and she had just done it for no reason. Where was the girl? Through the sleet and imense cold of the hidden valley, she cursed in a dark language. Wind whipped through her pale hair, making it swirl around her head in a menicing sight. Eyes, cold and uncaring, scouered the mist for any sign of life.
The snow moved.
Like a hawk, Katja was standing over the small girl shivering in the snow. Dressed in a t-shirt, it was clear that the girls intentions had not been to come to such a cold place. The girl looked, well, exactly like a smaller, less sweeter, version of Katja. At only around eight years old, the girl looked beyond terrified.
“P- P - Please,” she shivered.
Completely ignoring her, in one swift movement she pulled the girl into her arms. Too cold to struggle, the girl stayed there, two beautiful eyes locked on the mirror image to her face.
It was well known that Katja could bring nightmares, but it wasn’t so well known that Katja could bring pleasant dreams. It was one of those dreams that Katja gave the small, shivering, child. Her head was filled with warm meadows, horses and woodlands. A complete world away to where she was going.
Moving toward her horse, Katja carefully placed the girl upon her steeds back. Their bond was as strong as any soul riders is with their soul horses.
“All magic is magic. Strength is determind by the caster, drawing off their strength. All magic can perform the same magic, just some is allied with good and some with evil. Which one depends upon the overall intentions of the indivual, but good deeds can be performed with either and so can bad. Good deeds can lead to bad deeds and bad deeds to good,” she quoted from her textbook.
Mounting up herself, her, the horse and the girl rode back to Dark Core’s base. The two sisters finally reunited...
Yesterday, SSO announced five new ambassadors so I think it’s time I spoke about it a little.
At first, I quite liked the idea of ambassadors, helps the community and all of that. However, I feel it hasn’t worked well. This is just my opinion, but the ambassadors often tend to constantly comment things like “love your work” on SSO’s post. Some of the newer ambassadors did this as well and so they got promoted. As much as if, of course, could just be them loving the game (and there’s nothing wrong with that), is it possible that they’re just saying this because they’re ambassadors? This isn’t for every one of them, of course, there are 10 and they’re all different. But some say that they love EVERY. SINGLE. UPDATE. Like don’t you have an opinion? It’s ok to not like something once in a while. I feel that almost all of the ambassadors come across as really fake, and this could just be the way they come across to me personally, but they just do. Their constant praise of the team is very nice, but it can feel very fake. I don’t trust their opinions as being truthful anymore. I feel so awkward saying this because I don’t want it to be anything personal to any of the ambassadors, I’m sure they’re lovely people and I’m sure the team at SSO who came up with the idea is lovely as well. This is just my thoughts on how it comes across to me personally. Maybe they’re being nice, but maybe they’re being fake to live up to the ambassador standard, intentional or not.
What are your thoughts?
The main thing about today’s upset was new hairstyles. This apparently was the reason that they had to change our characters into monsters, so I was hoping for something a little better than this. But, before I talk about it, let’s look at them:
I really like the colours, although they were quite standard, they were nice. The first hair style (braids going to the back of the head) is quite nice. I really do like the way that it waves. However, the plaits seem to be really flat on the head. I wish that it had some depth, either french or dutch, not flat. The second hair style is just really weird. It’s so sticky up at the front, like part of the hair is trying to take off! It’s just very strange and very unnatural. I guess that you wouldn’t be able to see it under the helmet, but still.
Today, they also released some more photos of Mistfall:
I’m glad that it doesn’t look so misty. It looks pretty decent at the moment. It looks quite magical and pretty. What do you think?
I’ve decided to make a climbing series on my YouTube. I hope it will help more people in their climbing as well as helping me choose where to climb! I’d really like feedback on this one because I want to know if I should do it differently. However, climbs I hope to show in the future are:
- Behing Jarlaheim
- Above Pi’s
- Dino Valley
- Inn by the Bridge
- Guardian’s Dale
- GED Climb
- ‘Random rock collection’
Please let me know which ones you want and what you think of this:
Why haven’t written yet about this I don’t quite know if I’m honest. Ages ago now, new quests came out. I meant to edit the footage from them the weekend after they happened, but that didn’t work out. So, this morning, I uploaded the footage and
Why haven’t written yet about this I don’t quite know if I’m honest. Ages ago now, new quests came out. I meant to edit the footage from them the weekend after they happened, but that didn’t work out. So, this morning, I uploaded the footage and then I realised: “hang on, I haven’t written about the new quests yet”. I can’t believe that I haven’t! So, I’m doing it now. Here are my two videos as a little round up of the quests (self promotion - please give my poor little channel some love):
I loved how similar the race with Katja is from SSL. I thought that it was so cool. I won’t write too much about Fripp’s place, because I’ve done a post about that, but still it was so cool. The drones were awesome and I think it was a good way to implement Dark Core into it without making us go and spy on the base this time. The fact that Anne’s horse may have died is so sad, but the whole thing on Star Breeds intrigue me. Also, it’s great we now have a keystone to go back to Pandoria and rescue Anne next time we do the quests. Also, finding out about Guardian’s Dale is so cool, although I think that we might be the “fifth who leads the way”. I LOVED the brotherly relationship between Avalon and Evergrey, it was such a nice twist as well as a reminder that Avalon is human. I think the quests were very rich with detail only once did we have to do something not related to the story line (getting Evergrey’s stuff) which is great. I really really really cannot wait for the next quests to find out about star breeds!
A few months back (yes, I’ve had this waiting to be blogged about for months) I was doing a quest on a friends alt account and I saw this:
It got me thinking, wouldn’t it be so cool to have that race back again? If it was between Moorland and New Hillcrest, it could be to two teams against each other. Ever since SSO announced that they were releasing another racing team I have wanted two things: first, to be able to get a uniform top for the New Hillcrest team and second for there to be a quest where they race against the Bobcats. As the game has progressed so much, the race could be really cool with loads of RL style jumps. What would you want from this new course if I ever happened?
Hello! I said I’d write this and here I am writing it because I’m reliable like that. Yesterday the new arabians were bought to the game. Just to give you a general picture, I love old arabians but so far have hated the newer arabians due to the fact that they’re all so plastic like all new horses. At some point, I will have to get over this if I want to enjoy the game again. But some point isn’t now so have fun reading!
This was the one that I’ve seen over so many people’s stories. It’s quite nice, I really love the pattern. I like that the pattern is quite detailed in the actual shapes of the actual ‘dots’. For once, the blonde mane isn’t annoying me (certainly a first) and I really like the face & eyes. However, if you look at his front, you can see quite defined shading which I don’t like. This leads to the plastic looks sadly and I think it ruins the horse. But the plasticness isn’t as bad as some of the others so this one is my favourite horse released.
To be fair, I’ve never been into this colour of horse. I love the colour of the eye but dislike the face. There’s nothing wrong with it exactly, I just don’t like the large area of white - but some horses look like that so that’s my taste and not SSO. I do, however, like the way that the nose fades into white. i think that it’s very natural and just looks nice generally. I really love the way the white joins the grey on the legs are well. I feel it’s such a pretty gentle way of doing it. Rant coming, haha, you can SEE THE SHADING. It looks like me colouring before I knew how to blend. It’s so defined and I really really really really HATE IT. What horse looks like this? I hated this one the most.
Onto the last one. The faces is omg… amazing. The depth, tone, change from colour to black, the eye. It’s just so gorgeous. The same with the legs actually. I don’t like the way white and the yellow-brown go together personally, but that’s something personal (again). However, the main thing that ruins this horse is the blending on the front. I just don’t understand why? I really HATE IT. I can’t complain enough.
Overall, although the colours weren’t my thing, I really liked the legs and faces of these horses. However, as normal the plastic stuff was the thing that really ruined the whole horse. All I want for Christmas is decent horses.
It’s that time again. I need to start getting into the routine of writing earlier. I’m used to getting home with time to write but now I really don’t. I’ve started getting back on top of things but it’s taking a while so if I get home and study, I most likely won’t have time to write.
The new arabians look okish. Due to the time, I’ve decided that I won’t go into more details now and I’ll do that tomorrow with a detailed horse review post. I don’t like posting anything I’m not happy with and I wouldn’t be happy with a rushed review.
The main thing that I was looking forward to was getting our necks back. Here is a before vs after:
I’m going to be honest, I can’t see a lot of difference with the neck. Maybe it’s a big thicker, but it still look quite odd. It seems too far back to look normal. However, the bottom of the face is no lower sticking out. However, in fairness, SSO did say that this project was taking a while and that they’d hopefully improve it in time, so complaining too much now would be a bit off, although I wish they tested their products out on test riders rather than paying customers.
It’s been annoying having that star on your bridle for photos because it gets in the way and messes up outfits that it’s not a part of. We now can remove it, although only to ourselves. I think it’s quite cool and it’s something I will be using!
That’s all really. My eyes are dropping and I have a vocab test tomorrow. What on? French. Any. French. Word. Highly. Screwed. See you!
I haven’t done a day in the life of Li for a while and it’s probably because I don’t come on for long periods of time to do nothing worth writing about. But today I was on for a little longer. When I first logged on, I wanted to go climbing so I headed to GHV climb. However, about half way through I remember that I had horse market quests so I called for a pick up to get them done before Wednesday. Once I’d done them, I decided to do Newb Hideout climb at **location classified**. I was going to do it alone but then I decided to be a good owner and invite FR along.
After a lot of waiting for everyone to get up, we made it. Messing around with my club is my favourite thing to do in the game and thanks lads for an amazing evening - night!
Today I was out climbing with some friends and I had a little thought: what would it be like inside Pi’s house?
It used to be a summerhouse so I imagine worn summer chairs on the bottom with a half loft space with her bed in (all witches need to sleep). All furniture is either worn or DIY as she hasn’t had a lot of contact with the outside word, it’s also very dirty. The walls are filled with books which act as stands for the various vials of ingredients that she keeps on top of them. However, underneath all of the junk and disarray, you can go down into a basement, filled with strange purple light of the swamp, and it’s sparkly clean filled with her immaculate broom collection - no second hand pre-used brooms for Pi! One photo sits in the corner of the mayor of GHV, her love. What do you think Pi’s house would be like?
A few days ago, there was a club running an open event. FR decided to head along (it's cool to support our fellow UK clubs) and join in with a massive group dressage routine. Of course, we hadn't prepared anything but we pulled something together with only one run through, we performed. it's not create because of this but it was just a throwback to how much I love massive group SSO dressage - it's honestly so fun.
I’m looking at the clock and feeling guilty that I’m not sleeping. To stop headaches I need at leat 8 hours sleep, but 10 is the only one that stops them, so I need to sleep in the next 20 minutes. New animations today & an (awesome) new hat. Interested in reading my opinions for (most likely) no actual reason? Go ahead!!!! Here are my thoughts on the new look
As you can see, as part of the new look, they have added new animations. These aren’t big changes but there’s that move above as well as smoother mounts and dismounts (they’ve got rid of the way the character throws the arm over - which was weird) as well as making you hold the reins, when you’re stationary, in a more realistic way.
Those are images of the run and the walk. Some people hate them, but at the moment I actually prefer them. They’re less flouncy and more realistic. Maybe the run is a bit over the top, but I’m glad I don’t walk everywhere like someone on the catwalk anymore
My head looks really odd and squashed on my shoulders. It makes me think of a rodent or someone who has a condition that makes them hold their neck oddly (I’m not trying to be rude or anything, it’s just how I see it). Maybe it’s just because of the shorter neck which I’m not used to, but still - it’s weird. Maybe I’ll get used to that in time, I certainly hope so because I really don’t like it at the moment.
SSO ADDED POINTED WITCHES HATS. I love the look of them so much, and here they are:
You get them in the Halloween shops. I don’t like the white one (which costs over 200sc, which is very over priced, and looks, in my opinion, awful). However, I do like the purple (99sc) and the black (almost 50sc). I decided to take the purple home with me as, although it costs more, it’s more detailed and I think will work best with my SSO Halloween outfit. I really love that these have come to game!
What did you think of the hat and animations?
Happy Halloween everyone! I am not in a Halloween mood so my post isn’t Halloween themed. Honestly, I just got bit annoyed at 6 year olds trying to scare me and me having to pretend I care… Tehehehehehe! Ok, well I didn’t have time yesterday to talk about the appearance change that’s happening with our characters tomorrow. Here it is:
Many people don’t seem to be able to see the difference, open your eyes lads, it’s pretty obvious. The neck is shorter, which I like. I’ve never noticed a big neck before but I think shortening it will make things like scarfs easier to bring out. One of my friends really doesn’t like the new nose. It is more defined than the previous one, which personally I don’t mind but I think will really bug some people. The eyes seem more detailed but THEY TAKE UP THE WHOLE DAMN FACE?! She’s not an alien for god’s sake! I also think that the new fad shape looks like a mouse cross weasel so that’s fun. It might, however, look really good in game, so we shall see for tomorrow to whether or not I go on full blown rant. Change does take time to get used to, but it still might be that I hate it in a few weeks or I’ll get used to it and like it. This is meant to bring new clothes & hair styles (hoping for dutch braids) which is cool. One last thing… I didn’t know we were getting rid of the elbows…
What if Star Stables was about unicorns attacking Garnok and we had to defend Garnok? OK BYE I'M OFF TO BED!
When I was doing the Hallowe'en quests with the pumpkin lady, instead of focusing on the quests I was looking at her top:
I think that it just looks really nice and casual and I really want it in game. There are so many nice clothes on NPCs but not so many available for us. I think it's because SSO know whether or not the clothes look good on NPCs but maybe they don't think it through so well with us? Ah well! Do you have any wishful clothes for SSO to add to the game?
Despite the fact that most of my four was on the road in front of my, the corner of my eye caught the nervous movements of Arwen’s horse. I carefully stretched my hand out towards the poor thing, to comfort it. My own horse, Shade, was carefully checking that Arwen’s horse (ironically called Bravery) was ok. The wind tugged at our clothing, causing my ill-fitting top to hang off me even more than normal. Mum had tried her best this Halloween, sewing on a skeleton shape to one of my old tops and buying temporary hair die to match my worm through trousers. Even “my” horse was borrowed from Arwen who, despite her flaws, was probably the best friend I could ever hope for.
Arwen. What a puzzel. You could describe her as rich, generous, selfish, self-centred, devilish, thoughtful and many more oxymorons. Maybe Shakespeare could even draw inspiration from the personalities of one little teenager. New clothes were wrapped around her chocolate fudge coloured skin with her equally new cat trotting along in front of her.
It was her fault that we were here anyway. Every year her dad sets up a ghost town for the people of Jorvik to come and experience. However, it’s closed. An open ghost town? Scary. A closed ghost town? Petrifying beyond the definition of the world. And yet we were here, hunting the legend of the Mist.
Maybe that’s another word I could have used to describe Arwen? Magical. In the Jorvik sense anyway. Arwen’s riches came from her family’s long standing connections to the druids. In return for their magical services, they could -
A tickling had begun on my hand, the one holding Shade’s robe. It felt that hundreds, no thousands, of bugs tickling their way across my skin.
The windmill had jerked into life. Blades rotating through the air like axes through the night. The lights in one of the houses flickered on, the light burning and intense through the dark. I felt my breath quickening, my head fluttering. The sky came to life. Bats folded out of the night towards us.
All was quiet. The town had taken its fill so it hid itself back into the night. Ever wondered how scarecrow hill came to be?
