It was April Fools day, so obviously I had to fall the club, right? I mean, come on, it's basically their human right to be tricked on April Fool's! So the leaders (more commonly referred to as the liaders because I am amazing at puns) came up with a little trick about a new points system, new uniform, new club and some other things to be put on our discord chat. Oh, and we changed everyone's ranks to novice to go along with the prank! Although some people had their doubts, everyone believed it! Some people even liked the ideas (which would never work, by the way) while others were stressing that they'd be removed. Obviously I'd never make something like this for FR - it's completely wrong for the club! However, after 20 minutes of everyone going crazy, it was time to reassure them: Another year's April fools has been ticked off the list! I'm still waiting for the one by SSO though. I hope that will happen soon.
Did anyone prank you this April Fools? I know one of the leaders in FR got me!

3 years ago I was wandering Steve's Farm in the dead of night to find three people standing together all in "Frosty Roses". When it was just a few hours old, I joined that club and, from the start, I knew that I'd joined a crazy welcoming bunch of idiots. Three years on, most of the original idiots have moved on from FR but the atmosphere of the club is the same. I may have gone from member to owner, but the club still feels like the one that I joined 3 years ago.
Before FR, I remember thinking how lucky people were to own big clubs and how sad it was that I was never a lucky one. Well, about 4 months later I remember thinking how strange it was that I had been lucky enough to get a chance in this amazing club just because I was in the right place at the right time. And yes, it hasn't all been plain sailing. For both good and bad reasons, I broken down into tears about this club (first time it disbanded and when I got co owner being the most unforgettable). It has made me excited, nervous, angry, happy, hyper, stressed and every other possible emotion that happens from hanging out with a crazy bunch of humans for 3 years. Today, we replicated one of FR's first events (which a whole 4 people turned up to). I love this club so much and I'm very excited to be writing this for our 4th birthday next year! The club blog has been a bit inactive recently, but I’m starting it up again. If you’re interesting in my club side of SSO (mostly about the events that we get up to), click here. I don’t talk about it much on this blog as I’ve already written it on the other blog. So if that’s the kind of things you’re into, check it out!
I've spent a lovely evening climbing with FR. It was great, I had a lot of fun! We Skyped and climbed so here are just some photos from our evening really. I have a lightly stressful day tomorrow so I don't feel like writing much as I'm in a very strange mood so if I do start writing lots, it'll get really weird. We just jumped on fox island, climbed at Forgotten Fields and then climbed up to the tower in Jarlaheim. I love my club so much and I haven't spent an evening like this in too long, I must do it more. Enjoy some photos from the evening!
I’m so happy with how FR’s website is looking at the moment. I think it just looks so sleek and perfect for FR: I’m thinking of giving the theme to my personal blog as well. When it comes to choosing a theme, I suggest keep it simple. Choose 2/3 main colours (if it’s three, make one a ‘natural’ colour) that go together well. You’ll often find plain images look slicker unless you’re a really good editor. Choose a theme on Weebly (if you use Weebly) that makes you excited to write on it. I’m currently going with an orange theme, with hints on brown. It doesn’t need to be complex, but the colouring on the background, header and font makes a good difference. Black vs grey font for example. Have a play, and I’m sure something will just “work”.
Yesterday was a bit emotional for me. Every year, FR has taken a photo at the birthday cake for SSO's birthday. Every year since 2015 and jesus the club had changed. I'm not talking about the visual changes of more people, I'm talking about the actual players in the club. I'm talking about the club as a whole. 2015 was a very hard time for FR but on the 1st February 2016, we became a more stable club that didn't disband. On the 30th November 2016, I took over the running of FR. I want to make a video about this tomorrow because it was a very difficult time for myself and for the rest of the club. We now had the 'official owner' (me) and V, the old owner, in the same club, which didn't really work. We both were trying to own and it caused a lot of clashes between ourselves. On the 14th January, V made her own club, RR. 25 of FR member went to join and 25 stayed in FR - it truly was the dividing of the club. But since then some of those members have come back (I've been told that RR was an amazing club, but it had a short life due to various circumstances) and many many more amazing people have joined FR since. People that are now even leaders in the club. People who make up the very heart and soul of FR how we know it. And do I wish it had happened? I don't know. The testing of the sword makes is stronger and yes, it was hard. Yes, I wanted to give up. But I knew that at the end, everything would be good and I'm very happy to say I was right. I miss the old FR, but I think that everything happens for a reason and the 'newer' FR is the future and I love them very much. What I want to say is keep going and tell yourself that things WILL get better, I promise, they will.
I’ve been getting more into making videos recently as you know and I’ve just finished filming one with my friend, Caitlin Lightlake. But this one, I’m really proud of. I came up with the idea last night and I just love it. I love the video as well as loving editing it. I think it’s my calling to do videos (as well as writing, of course, that came first and will always be the top). It’s just so fun to get given a sloppy mess of a recording and slowly, with the right cropping, music, titles and other audio, to fashion it into something that people will (hopefully) enjoy. It’s so fun to have and plan ideas out as well. It brings together writing, sometimes acting and just a general love of entertaining others. It’s fun and it’s something that, in the coming academic year, I really hope I’ll find time for and won’t let my studies take over
Here’s a little tip for all aspiring club owners. Make time for people. Love your club. Each individual person. Love them and fight for them. You’re allowed to get annoyed at them. You’re allowed tell them off for causing issues. But in the end, if anyone insults, hurts or otherwise a member of your club, your family, you HAVE to have that almost maternal instinct to “fend them off” and cheer up your club members. It makes me sad when a member of my club is sad. But it makes me happy when we’re all joking around. If you chuck 50 teenagers in a club together there will be drama - get over it. Your aim should be that at the end of drama both parties feel that you dealt with it fairly and that they’ve learned their lesson but that you don’t love them any less for it. Make time for people regardless of who they are in the club - their rank. Love your members like you’d love your family and in return they’ll love the club and each other and you. THAT’S the way to a “successful” club - nothing else.
Just a little thought from a sleepy me. I love FR. I'm glad that I was given the chance to own it and that me and the club have managed to make it work - together. Yes, learning to own a club comes with mistakes but every mistake got me to where I am today with the club and so, I don't regret a single one. So, just a shout out to the haters, you know nothing about FR so enjoy your life, I'll enjoy mine with FR. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT!
I should have written this post ages ago but I haven’t so I’m doing it now. I know, no fan fiction. But, I’m really not getting any inspiration for it at the moment so I can’t make the characters feel “alive”. It’s kind of like my writing is so flat when I have no inspo and when I have inspo it feels live and rich - to me anyway.
FR makes me laugh, it makes me slime, it makes me face palm. It cheers me up because it’s just a bunch of random, hyper, people. People who you Skype with, not just user names on your screen. In some clubs that’s all people are but in FR the members and the people behind the screen. They’re the people that make you laugh so much that you can’t even draw breath to make it audible. They’re the people who you can spend hours with and it feels like only minutes. Even though you’ve never met them in real life, you can hang out with them for as long as real life friends. Yes, FR has events. Why? Because people enjoy them. That doesn’t make us a club that only cares about events. I can guarantee that at least one bunch of Frosties will visit FRs second club house (the Newb Hideout) every day. There’s always a Skype call between some members. Always people hanging out. There are events, which are made just to brighten up your day and encourage the newer members to join in - it’s far to crazy to get involved with otherwise. I’ve had an amazing day with FR today. I’ve been laughing so hard, smiling so much and above all just having an amazing time. And this is why I love FR. It’s a place where friends are family and your family are complete idiots. I know, I know, another "A day in the life" but I enjoy doing these posts and apparently people enjoy reading them, so it's staying. My morning started with a few weird dreams, eating breakfast and logging onto my account to add someone back to FR (someone logged onto their account and left the club for them). Then I logged onto the account that I quest on for a friend and did some quests and races. I then logged onto my own account to do some chores. I love doing chores as they are quick but give you a lot of Jorvik Shillings. Next, I decided to join FR in a secret place that the Frosties call "Newb Hideout" (you have to climb and then go through a pile of rocks and drop off a cliff to get there). I decided to try a bit of exploring and find somewhere new to climb. In the end I found a place on the edge of the Cauldron. It wasn't much of a climb but there were so many places I've never seen before plus a great view. Recently, I've been using one of my older alts to high score and do championships. It's easier than with my main as people aren't constantly going "Well done Li" really patronizingly at champs when I came 10th and I'm not ignoring club chat when I'm high scoring. So i did Valedale today. I still don't know the shortcuts but I somehow came third! (I blurred the names so I can keep my account private.) It was time for a good old classic "Li is ultra late for her own event) move as I ran to get to SF in time for my event. I made it though! In my event, people had 15 tasks around the island to complete like "doing New Hillcrest race" and things like that. The last task was to climb up to above Guardian's Dale and here are the squad who made it to the end - notice the before and after. Finally, I called for a pick up and chilled on the hay bale plus added a new member. Awesome day and good night! (Pssst, fan fiction tomorrow.)
I think it's high time to do another day in the life of me, so here goes. I spent my afternoon watching an episode of Met police, YouTube plus a bit of chatting with FR. I then spent some time outside before logging on for the event. The event was "Find Sharkie" - found her! Next, i got to do one of my favourite things as an owner, adding new members. So a massive Frostie welcome to Ellie - it's great to finally have you in FR! Then some people went climbing and I joined. When I got back the news on the general election finally had kicked off so I'm currently sitting here writing this with the news shouting away in the background. I'm about to log on and do my dailies as I've just finished up my blog posts (I have multiple blogs). I'm planning to then post on Instagram before going to bed and getting some sleep (it's an important thing to do). See you tomorrow, planning to upload fan fiction!
(If you enjoy reading about club events click here) Here are a few things you should know about me in FR. Without FR I would have stopped SSO because they are the only reason I log on. FR is a great place, they make me laugh, smile and it’s just a place where people can do whatever and be themselves. I was so proud of this video that I made because I felt that it truly reflected FR! And yes, I do have a speaking role and no I"m not telling you which one...Guess! Hi there! Today I want to talk about the top few thing that annoys me as an owner on Star stable online…
When people copy our name, ideas and uniform. Oh my God, this happened just today. Sure, there are coincidences. If happen to come across the name Frosty Roses Inc. and you really like it, then go ahead, make a club! However, if you just take the name FR and add something on because we are a large club and you want your club to be large as well, then that is not ok. Get original ok? Again, coincidences with the uniform happen. If you are looking for a uniform and you find this nice set and choose it and it happens to be the same as ours, then sure, awesome, have it. But quite honestly, at least once a week I see a new club wearing FR uniform so it can’t always be coincidence. If you look at the photo below, you’ll see a club with the same uniform and the same name… Still coincidence…? And then we get the clubs who copy our ideas. No, we aren’t the only club to have an application system. However, we are the only club I know who holds regular open events and has a shortlist. No, we aren’t the only club to have theme weeks. But the second we run a theme week, I then notice them happening on our server? And when you have a website word for word the same as ours (oh, and I do report people for this) then is that really as coincidence? I might not be able to physically stop you from using this, and sometimes it may be a mistake. But, it often isn’t so grow up people of SSO. Grow up and get original. I have to be up at 5:15 AM tomorrow to support a swimming race from my kayak, so I'm going to bed now. I had a lot of fun with FR today and here is a photo of us as I showed them Devil's Gap!
Hello, wow it’s past midnight… When did it get so late? Just pretend that this was posted on the 9th of April. Sorry for no post yesterday, well I guess two days ago now, but I was helping out with kayaking and then some friends and I started messing around in cold water with a SUP board… It was amazing although tiring! Also quick update on the fan fiction, it will be coming out every Sunday as normal and I will start writing/ developing plot lines this week. But now it’s time for a day in the life of me! Well my day started with some lazy studying and things - mostly French (Il est facile de faire des recherches pour mes et ses devoirs). And then around 12 I logged on to add two old members back! One left on Tuesday due to stress and the other left on the 14th February. For people who are wondering, everyone makes mistakes so in FR people get a chance to rejoin after leaving. Sometimes people everyone get a third and a forth chance but it depends on how close to the family you are and the situation! After adding them, I chilled with Cait over the ML mine with a beautiful view of ML - where it all started. Then, I found a way to get up the hill opposite the castle. It was an event better view and up there I was joined by quite a few fabulous members. Next, I popped onto an alt to do some quests. I forgot how amazing these quests are so I wanted to save the photos as memories! The two people who joined early afternoon, were followed by two more people in the evening. These were also rejoining members, why we had 4 in a day and how we had space for all four I will never know. (Well that’s a lie, we had two spaces from Tuesday and then two people sadly left today (it’s been a really big leaving week - no idea why).) So welcome back to Lilah Applewood and Bella Longsmith (both are ex leaders). And I finally cooled off by standing at ML paddock, contemplating life!
Ok random day in my life video in coming! Well I’ll start off with what happened in my real life before I progress onto what happened in game. So it all started this morning helping out with the start course at my kayaking club. There were so many little ones to help with and they were so sweet! In the afternoon, I did some SUP boarding with two mates before we jumped off the jetty into the 12 degrees water... IT WAS AWESOME! I thought that one of our coaches was going to tell us off for something but he actually told us to jump off the 1m high jetty - even more awesome!!! On the way home, we stopped off at a friends house. We did some archery there (I did decently and got the red which was ok for my first proper go). My Dad and my friends Dad were laughing at us failing to shoot a water balloon so we made them have a go. My Dad has never tried it before and well... he had enough power... enough power to send the arrow through the trees, through the hedge and onto the road! However, my friends dad hit the water balloon first time… Then I logged online. Both of my sisters have started playing Star Stable again so it’s them on those accounts, not me. Anyways, the Frosties and I decided to stalk them (like everyone good older sister should). We chased them around a bit and then “sat” down with them at a cafe. This is why I love FR, honestly… We ended the day having some very strange conversations. What if Harry Potter was a lizard, not a wizard, and he went to lizard school where he found out his parents were lizards? Oh wow that would be amazing. Rose still wants to con her way up to leader so just tried to dare me into ranking her up. Not happening Rose, not happening.
Today I want to talk about what happened with FR over 2 months ago now and how we came back from it. In time, I will talk in more detail but now I feel it is time to roughly glide over what went on.
So after I got the club from the previous owner, there was a lot of tension. This was because half of the club still followed the previous owner and half followed me. This lead to drama and friction particularly because the leaders and other high ranks had been in the club for longer and so followed her. This meant that when she made her own club most of the old family followed. But not all. Actually, it was pretty even half and half but FR was still left with 25 spaces and now we had criticism that we were no longer a family. We were. We added new members who of course took a while to blend in with the family but the family always has and always will exist. Slowly more and more members came (we always had loads on the list waiting to join away). We had a full club again with new leaders. It felt so much better. There wasn’t the same divide anymore. All of the members had a chance to make mistakes and be themselves a way they hadn’t before. The gaps left by old members were now not only physically filled but emotionally as well. The club had come together from the small family left behind to a bigger, newer and dare I say in my opinion better family. This Saturday, we will finally have 4 leaders and 6 RIs again (something I have been waiting a while to do but wanted to give it time). FR has healed completely and the testing of the sword only makes it stronger. We are one and we are strong because we’re in a place where friends are family! Hello! Short post here on a little though I had 4.5 metres in the air, balancing with no hands at climbing tonight. It’s about ownership and what makes a good owner. I think that it’s easy to run a club when you’re full with 100 people waiting to join. When you have 1K followers on Instagram, 50 people at open events, 20 club members at each normal event. It’s not that hard to run. Yes, it does take some skill. To look after 49 other people, to keep up events, to organise and to still keep that family vibe takes skill. But I think the true mark of an owner is when things aren’t going well, When people are leaving, when you’re finding it hard to get members. When you’re getting hate, when people inside and outside the club are talking about you being a bad owner. When you want to disband. When you know that that would be so so so much easier. I think a true owner’s love for their club lets them full through this. It stops them disbanding and they keep going. They build or rebuild their family. So rather than counting a good owner with their current successes, look back at their past and see what they’ve had to face but I think that the ones who kept going haven’t really said much about what’s happening to the rest of the world. So if you’re in this position keep going and one day, if you look up, your club will flourish.
