SSO showed us on their IG today that these beautiful comics will be coming out! At the moment, they’re only available in Swedish but English soon. They’re about Alex before the start of the SSO game which is really cool because we know there’s stuff going on because of the insight we got with her Mum. Her Mum found it hard to cope with and her brothers so there should hopefully be interesting stuff. I do wish it was a book because I don’t like comics but still it looks quite fun. I think it’s good SSO are broadening their products a bit - should keep the game going!

Well, I was right in doubted the Moon Festival because instead we have new quests. I prefer to film doing them because it's just so much easier and lets you see all of the animation so here is my video of today's quests! I really enjoyed them! Ok, they weren't connected to the actual story line but still, they were well animated and I loved the part where you clicked on the picture for clues and circled it. It was also cool that the chipmunks were responsible and I couldn't handle the cuteness! You got a decent amount of XP and it's quite good considering SSO are working on a new area - Firfall. The quest line had something more needed but the animations really were amazing!
For 2017, SSO released a calendar with all of the dates for various festivals on. I don't actually have this calendar so all dates and the photo below were taken off @april.sworddaughter and the photo is 100% hers and the dates were very kindly posted by her to help other players. If you fancy and interesting account to follow, I would recommend her! 1st-11th January: Christmas continues 8th-15th February: Valentine's day 15th-22nd March: Fortuna Festival 22nd-29th March: Fashion Week 1st April: April fool's 12th-26th April: Easter 10th-17th May: Spring celebration, potatoes 21st June-12th July: Summer festival 19th July-2nd August: Summer beach ??9th-16th August: Jorvalds week?? 16th-30th August: Open House at Jorvik Stables 30th August-13th September: Moon festival 20th-27th September: Fashion week 27th September-4th October: Birthday celebrations (2nd October the actual birthday) 25th October-8th November: Halloween 22nd November- ? 2018: Christmas 27th December -? 2018: New Year So far it's been pretty accurate and very helpful for event planning etc. However, "Jorvalds" week didn't happen - instead it was Pandoria. I don't know if they planned to do a "Jorvald's Week" but instead did Pandoria but there we are. Tomorrow is meant to be the "moon festival" which sounds quite cool, hopefully something to do with the moon circle but more likely just the people of Jorvik celebrating the beauty of the moon. That is, if it happens. I really hope it does because it sounds so cool. What do you think? Haha, I was thinking about the things on SSO I do that I shouldn't and here they are - five things that SSO players should never do (but they do do anyway). 1. Not answering mail for more than a day after you get it. I do this one all of the time because I find mail so repetitive and boring most of the time and I get so much of it - pains of an owner! 2. Not caring for the horse on red icons. I don't race or anything so I don't see the point of caring for the horse as it doesn't affect me in any way! 3. Having a full inventory. Although my inventory gets cramped at times, I normally empty it before it gets full but that annoys me so much. 4. Logging off without saying goodbye. I either spend like 5 minutes saying bye or I just can't be bothered so I just log off and if anyone asks, I say I crashed - I'm a bad person! 5. Wearing the same outfit for days at a time.
I never do this...never... How many of these "sins" do you do? Just an errant thought. Wouldn't it be so cool if there was a hot air balloon, like the one that takes you to Dino Valley, but instead it offered you a fly over of SSO? This would give you a birds eye view of the whole of Jorvik and, as it flies around, there could even be buttons to zoom in or out (go higher or lower). I think that this would be used heavily in photos and videos and would just be so beautiful - please SSO, please!
I found this on @avisiceheart instagram (although I do not know if it belongs to her or, if not, who owns it) but it's a report on a bug in the game. You can read about it below by clicking on the images to enlarge them. This means that, a horse with a red face is the same as a horse with a green face unless you have just changed it to a green face by caring or using the vet. Therefore, most of the time, the colour of the face does, in no way, impact the speed. This means that you may as well not use stable care and then use the vet once in a while to get your horse faster. However, this isn't fair and it needs to be fixed. I don't know if it has been but I'm guessing not so I hope this explains to people, like it did to me, why over the past months highscoring has been impossible.
If this is genuine, it's been confirmed - Firfall is coming to Jorvik! Eekk, so excited omg. I don't believe that it won't come out due to glitchers, so ignore that. Maybe it's been delayed by a few weeks but people have always glitched into new areas and always will. I can't wait for it, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! OMG! I think that it will happen near the end of 2017 and it'll be a mountain type area, similar to Firgrove (it pretty much has the same name). There better be squirrels and magic horses to be found - oh and lots of rocks to climb!
I was out canoeing with my family over my Summer break and I started thinking about an edit involving the Bobcats. I wished and wished I could draw enough to make it. I started to think about how someone would go about making it. Slowly, I realized that I could make it. More edits started to be designed in my head. So, when I got home, I started making them! It's so amazing, I can make art. I was so happy, finally I can do what I've always wanted to with almost zero drawing. I haven't seen this style before (although I'm sure it exists) and I'm just so happy to have it. The creative process has slowed down a bit but edits of a hot air balloon and Jorvik results day can be expected soon. (Click on the images to enlarge and gain more information.)
Hello there. So, today’s update was a Hanoverian race. A lot of people are quite annoyed about it as they do not own a hano (lI’m laughing so hard because it just auto corrected hano to hand) so they cannot do it. However, as long as in the future there are races for horse breeds that I do have, I think it’s quite cool. Yes, it’s not my horse breed this week but in the future I’m sure there will be a really nice race for my horse. You can get 10XP just from talking to the dude at Silverglade Arena so you might as well go ahead and do it. The actual race gives you 350XP and looks quite cool. Just like in the open house race, there are cross jumps as well as water jumps - which look amazing! Little tip, if you own a hano and you’re training another horse then do the race on the hano and collect it with the horse you are training. I would really like water jumps in the game permanently, not just when you’re racing (my hopes for the new area this year). I think it’s been an ok update actually. I didn’t expect anything that big after Pandoria just two weeks ago. It’s quite a nice idea and if it was a breed that I had, and liked, I’d love it but, I don’t, so for now it’s not my cup of tea. But, if they make a Lipizzaner dressage race then I’ll be so happy.
What did you think? This was written by my fabulous friend Caitlin Lightlake. She also has a blog which is well worth a read, if you want to read it - click here.
Hello everyone! For Li's older readers you may remember my guest blog from a while back, theorising about the new Jorvik city area, before it was released. Well I am back!! This time to talk about fishing... the word/ sound/ image that every player dreads to hear. They are the inconvenience of life, the last quests that sit in your log for years gathering dust. I myself am 100% anti-fish, and even at level 20 I have only just started to crack down on these miserable dailies. Perhaps we should campaign for a ban on Jorvik fishing, or the removal of the dreaded "Good try! But the fish got away...". Even if fishing is the most hated sport in Jorvik, it still has some large XP rewards which are helpful when you are so very determined to get to the much wanted level 20. I just hope that SSO don't decide to introduce more fishing in Epona. Thank you for reading! Cait x I think I covered it all in the video. The quests were amazing. The plot line, the graphics, the animations - amazing. There are things I want in the future (Anne and access to Pandoria) but for now I'm happy - Pandoria was truly amazing and perfect!
I hugged my legs up closer to my chest. “Mummy,” I mouthed, so grief stricken that I couldn’t even form the words properly. I hadn’t called my Mum, Mummy, since I was eight but fear, panic and loss were weighting on me so heavily that it was an ill-fitting bag, forced onto my back without relent nor permission.
Once, this morning, I’d been a normal girl living in the town of Firgrove. We work in mining there. Copper ore mostly. The mayor had told Mr Kembell - head of the mine - that the workers had some certain for the safety of it. But, he paid no head. And now he was living the consequences. The workers were living the consequences. I was living the consequences. My mother wasn’t living the consequences. My mother was no longer living. The house was so empty without her. Curtains on every house were drawn tight shut almost as if it would hide the loss that the village had experienced that day. Eleven dead. Most families had lost someone and everyone had lost someone they knew. My shoulders were still shaking from grief; my eyes still burning with tears. The door opened. Unfamiliar footsteps thudded down our narrow hall way. Gasping for breath, I stumbled behind a chair near the fire and grasped the fire poker. Hoping I wouldn’t have to use it, I peered out. White boots. White boots belonging to a girl with snow white hair and cold blue eyes which focus on the source of the sound - me. “Hey there little one, don’t cry,” she crooned, sickly sweet. I’m 12, hardly “little one”. She knelt down next to me though and continued to speak, “I’m your sister - Katja.” “I don’t - I don’t have a sister,” I chocked out. She grimace, “Mum didn’t mention me? Well, I think I bring shame on the family somewhat.” I would have asked why, under any normal situation but I simply didn’t care. I wanted Mum. Not this strange girl claiming to be my sister. I wanted my mother more than anything. She ignored my tears as they started up again. Grabbing my arm, she pulled me towards the door and I am ashamed to say that I offered no resistance. Before I could even take a last glance at my home, we were on the road, driving fast - too fast. “Sister, please, drink,” Katja pressed a bottle to my lip, pinching my nose, forcing me to open my mouth . Unwillingly, I drank and was pitched off into blackness… I am am the sister of Katja the dark rider. A while ago now, even longer ago when you're reading this, one of my friends as advising for a romance RP. Not uncommon as anyone who ever glances at global would know. There are many romance RPs that happen regularly. But, did you know, that it is actually against SSO rules. My friend was given a warning across her screen by the games master. I knew of course that having boyfriends and girlfriends in game wasn't allowed but for some reason it did not cross my mind that this would include role playing. After all, role plays are just as much a part of the game as horses are! Ok, many not quite as much. But the point is that, I thought it was just interesting that they're banned. When my friend asked since when, this was the games masters reply: I'm coming home today and should get home today or, more likely, tomorrow. I will have missed my lovely house so much but I'm sure the holiday will have been fab!
In many ways, I love the orienteering race. However, it annoys me a LOT that there’s a leaderboard for it when it’s luck that you get the right race. Surely, regardless of your speed and skill, some of the random checkpoints are closer to the start than others. I understand that they need to change places else the race would become boring and pointless. But, I then think that since the race isn’t fair their shouldn’t be a leaderboard for it - like there’s no leaderboard for the Hermit’s race. What do you think?
So, I thought I’d give you a run through of my whole SSO life, start to end. This is probably going to be long so it will be in two parts and this is part 2, part one was on Tuesday. Anyway, let’s go!
I loved the club. I probably wasn’t the most active member in the first few months because I was playing on two accounts. It was around this time that I really wanted to join The Enigmas - even if I was a level 4 non star rider. Finally, in February I got my star rider for Lisa Silentland. I did all of my quests every day, unlocking the Harvest Countries in just a few hours. I loved it. I think I was still in Everwind Knight but I can’t be completely sure. Indeed, for Lisa a new area was opening. Over time I climbed my way up the levels. I loved playing so much. One highlight was certainly EK the club I was in. However, it started going inactive. I was the leader at this point and didn’t know what to do. One of my friends, Gabi, left EK for another club, Jarls Hunters I think. I decided to follow her and this was my first big club. It had lots of people at events and was pretty crazy for little level 14 me. I had a good time in it though, joining one memorable horse show. But nothing could last. The owned decided to pass the club onto a new owner and we had drama so I left. It was the best choice I ever made. I actually remember where I had the drama - just above Dead Mans Cove in West Cape! I was stumbling about Steve’s Farm, on the hunt for a club and there stood FR, just a few hours old. I asked to join and the rest is history. I’ve given my FR story on this I was thinking the other day about wolves on SSO and how they’re represented. So, I got my sister (who loves wolves) to do a little interview about them.
How do you think wolves are represented on SSO? Well, I kind of think that they’re represented as stupid large dogs almost as IRL giving them large dog biscuits wouldn’t help. It’s negative because they are shown as stupid. Also, when they chase people away it’s because they’re territorial due to cubs or something like that - not because they’re hungry so how would dog biscuits help? Do you think this is fair? After all, some wolves will attack. Well, to be honest it isn’t uncommon for wolves to be represented for wolves to be represented as creatures that will attack you. But, it isn’t fair as it doesn’t show all of the perspectives of wolves and what we’ve done to them. How important is it that wolves are represented positively? It’s really important as some people are killing wolves a lot at the moment as they think that wolves are killing their stock and stuff. People are doing really horrible things to them so we need to represent them positively so that people can sponsor them and help them. Would wolves actually live in Jorvik and if so, which kind? Well, Jorvik has a lot of different habitats - Dino Valley would have the Artic Wolves. But the mountains would be the home of red wolves and grey wolves for the forest and mountains. But really there are woods, mountains, lakes so lots of different wolves could live there. However, the habitats are quite small so there couldn’t be that many packs due to the amount of people that live there. So, I thought I’d give you a run through of my whole SSO life, start to end. This is probably going to be long so it will be in two parts and part two will be on Thursday. Anyway, let’s go!
I found SSO on the 1st June 2014. I was watching a YouTube video and an advert for SSO came up. I ran into my sisters room and they said that they’d heard of it before but hadn’t signed up. That day, my younger sister joined SSO and for some reason i waited for the next day, 2nd June, to sign up. Since day 1 I loved SSO. It was like nothing I’d ever played before. That first night, I hid under my duvet and played when I was meant to be asleep - as rebel as ever. I kept playing more and more. I remember meeting a player called Jamie Ponyfield and joining a club called Eno Foals. I didn’t like joining most clubs though because I felt higher level players took advantage of us. As you can tell, I was a very smart newbie. I was playing quite a lot but I wasn’t star rider. For my sisters birthday, I got them star rider and started playing on my youngest sisters account. I made a “successful” club called Nice Forest Girls. Actually, it wasn’t that bad. We had about 7 people turning up to events which for any newbie club isn’t awful. Lisa Silentland remained abandoned for a while until I remember how much I loved the character. I began playing on her, searching for a club. I advertised on say chat and someone called Denise Braveknight answered my pleas with an invite to Everwind Knights. Hello everyone! Happy Monday! I’m still away for the second week now so I hope I’ll have a good one and you too. Today I wanted to talk about training motivation and how you can get motivated. So, let’s go!
1. Make a “training chart”. This has been a bit of a thing recently that everyone has been doing. You make a table of all your horses with 15 squares next to each and when you’ve training it up a level, you fill in a square. Some people really want their table filled in. 2. Don’t buy a new horse until the previous one is trained. You need to be strict with yourself to stick to this rule but if you do then the motivation of buying a new horse will keep you training. 3. Make a regular training session to train as a group, peer pressure will force you into it! I actually was planning to complain about this glitch on this post but I couldn’t because they have fixed it. So I’m blogging about ti being fixed instead! Did you ever notice that in Valedale stables you couldn’t care for your horses inside the actual stable? The same was actually true at New Hillcrest. Madness, right? Well, now it’s been fixed so in a STABLE you can look after your horses, good one SSO.
In the real world, sheep like escaping. Whenever you go for walks, you have to be careful to shut the gates behind you else the sheep will go AWOL and run out. However, I have decided that in SSO sheep aren’t normal so they stay in their pens… Or SSO is still waiting on the quest that will fix this and allow the sheep to be normal once again. I think it would be cool if we could finally improve the sandpit by fixing the fences for humans and sheep alike. In the real world, these sheep WOULD be dead from wolves or they would have just wandered out of the pen and got lost. PLEASE SSO, KEEP OUR SHEEP SAFE AND FIX THE PEN!
