When we got Mistfall, there was a reasonably sized area that remained locked. Some players can get across the river, but I am unable to without cheating. Therefore I can simply look across the water and get spoiled by other people's photos of awesome lily pads... But the reason I'm so interested in the area at this time is the fact that there are stars over there. If you look at the tree just above the centre of the photo above, you can see a star. You cannot actually get this star without glitching yet, so it's one of the two stars that SSO added and did not allow you to get. I know that the other star in there also. But SSO said this on the news: "You’ll also notice there are another two stars on the list, but they can’t be found yet… We’ll tell you more about that another week! ". This makes me think that the area with these stars in, the one above, will be coming soon. I really wonder when! I really want quests as I only have 60 XP until level 21 one. I wonder when though. Having two stars in game that you cannot get does make me think that it'll be soon so I wonder when. I hope for next week but I think that that might be a bit too hopeful! Another thing I wonder is whether or not this house will come up in any quests: It's the house that you can enter but no one is around it. I think it would be cool if SSO have left it just for people to roleplay in, but it would also be really cool to meet a character who lives there!

“Lana, please come out everyone wants to see you” Matt practically begged.
Sit outside by the campfire with a load of old rangers hanging about and talking about the terrors of the toadstool population decreasing. Most of them came from Dundull or slightly further afield in Jorvik City, but they ate with the rangers. Unfortunately, that meant that the only meals were available in their company. I was very hungry though… “Fine! Fine! I’ll come out and eat if it makes you all so happy!” Matt grinned, “Excellent! Put your coat and hat on, it’s cold out.” I sighed, stood up and picked up my hat and coat. I hated my current clothes. From Bristol, I had only bought what I was standing up in so Jacey had bought me tight leather leggings, a tunic styled long sleeved t-shirt, clumpy woollen boots as well as fleece gilet and hat. Walking outside, I found a space at the fire as someone passed me a bowl filled with fish stew. It smelled like fireworks light. My face, facing the fire, was burning hot; my back, facing away, was freezing cold. Zoning out the chatter from the rangers, I tried to balance soup and homemade tea. “How are you liking Mistfall then, Lana?” old Zacky asked. I shrugged by means of an easy way out of answering but I wasn’t getting that easily. “Come on now, we all want to hear what wildlife you’ve seen so far! What local beastie is your favourite?” Oh God, I really didn’t care. Think, Lana, think. “Hedgehogs, they’ve very sweet.” Old Zacky laughed, “I like the frogs myself, raising them got me into a lot of trouble with me Ma as a boy. But I hear you know all about getting into trouble.” Matt and Jacey shifted uncomfortably in their seats, but didn’t dare contradict Zacky so it was left to me to reply, “A little.” Thankfully, the conversation was left there and everyone proceeded to talk about the tasks for the next day. As we moved onto eating cloudberries, eerie noisy came from the trees as the forests came alive. Twigs snapped; leaves rustled. Fireflies flew about above our heads lighting up large patches in the constantly settled sea mist. Standing up from the log I had been sitting on, I excused myself and went back inside, realising it was high time I replied to Mum. Tired, I opened up the chunky laptop. Besides the mail app a little number appeared saying “13”. 13 messages all from Mum getting madder and madder that I hadn’t replied. “Lana, God damn hurry up and get back to me. It’s not like I’m your mother or anything.” “Stop ignoring me Lana” “If you can’t be bothered to reply then I can’t be bothered to have you back.” “Ok, Lana, even though you’re ignoring me, I need to tell you this. I have a boyfriend and he’s moving in with this two kids. Look, I’m so sorry sweetheart but they really need a home right now.” Despite my burning eyes and blurred vision, I fought the tears, stood up and ran out of the house. Remembering a tree up by the cliff which was easy to climb, I headed towards it fighting my way up the cliff and into the misty night. Wow, I have not blogged for so long! I felt that over Christmas I'd just come off of blogging completely rather than uploading crap quality posts like last year where I just wrote about my IRL day. Ok, so, I'm going to do just the normal Wednesday update post but I hope that everyone had an amazing Christmas! I didn't expect very much of this update and so was aware that it would probably just be New Year's fireworks, so I was quite surprised when SSO threw two more things into the mix. The first was 6, or should I say eight, new stars in Mistfall. SSO said that there were eight availability but you could only actually find six of them. I made a video on the locations of the first six. As I mentioned, there are two more. They are both in an area that is closed off but you can jump across without glitching at all to get one of them (you need to get some crumbs from Dundull, there are plenty of YouTube videos showing you how to do it). Some players have almost managed to get the other one, but that requires glitching which I'm not going to do. I think that means that there's a new place in Mistfall coming next week, theory post is on it's way! Also, SSO have worked with a pop group called Dolly Style. I, personally, have never heard of them and don't like the sound of their music, but it is the kind of music that younger players might listen to. The music will be playing at Fort Pinta disco and, in addition, they have given us four free tops if we use the code: DOLLYSTLE. I think that this is really generous and the tops are actually pretty decent! Just as Christmas was different this year, New Years is different. Fireworks are now only avaibile in the Christmas market, which I think it a bit of a shame because there's no reason they can't be everywhere else. Fireworks have the same system as before, you buy a firework and set it off. This is what the fireworks area looks like: They have also added an hourly New Years fireworks display. At first I thought that it sounded really cool but it only lasts 10 seconds which is a bit short. I think it should be a lot longer and the small amount of time it lasts for is a major disappointment. New Years stuff may only be bought inside the Christmas market, which is again a shame because the whole of Jorvik celebrates New Year, not just Santa. As always, there were dresses being sold and half of the community seemed to be obsessing over this one blue dress. I must admit, it's very different from the other SSO dresses, which look like balloons, and it seems pretty wearable, which is really nice to see for the first time in game. I really hope there are more dresses in this style in the future. Finally, they added this feature to the horse market: It's good that they don't want to clutter it up but I am starting to feel that the horse market is becoming a dumping ground for the horses they they want to pretend don't exist so they chuck them in the horse market, they only come up once every other week and now you can't even see them all at once. I guess it's because they don't want to.
What did you think of this update? It's the last post about Mistfall and then everything will calm down and become about the game as a whole again. In Mistfall, we were blessed with a brand new salon. It can be found in Dundell and it sells three hairstyles. Two of the hair styles are the two old ones that we've had in game for a while (although are still very new) and the other one was brand new to Jorvik. Here is it in some of the different colours. I've always loved the ponytails in game and I wore my classic brown ponytail for a very long time. I really liked these updated versions of my old hairstyles. I think they're my new favourite hair style in game. They're very stylish in a modest way. They weren't too pricey, although they weren't cheap (unlike my old ponytail). The one bad note about them is that they go through the hat that you are wearing. It's a salon so we also go some makeup, of course. The makeup that we there was Viking themed and looked like this: Although these aren't something that, in general, I'd wear myself, I really liked them. I thought that it was cool how different they are to other makeups in game and how it just reflects the character of Mistfall so well. SSO have done a great job there, I think, of giving it character and allowing that character to be seen in everything from the gardens to the shops. People who get into viking roleplays will love this and I think that it may be something that FR have to wear at an event at some point!
All in all, I really liked this salon. I thought it was new and unique, not just copied of already made clothes so I really enjoyed it and had much fun looking around! What do you think of the new hair and makeup styles? I know, I know, another Mistfall post. Well, there's a few more to come because I'm going to try and get all of my thoughts about the new area onto my blog asap. I almost have all of the photos that I need now, so I just need to write the stuff. Today I wanted to took at all of the fashion items in the new area and talk about them a bit. In Mistfall we are blessed with 5 new shops (not counting the salon, I'll look at that tomorrow). It's all quite cool, so here is the first shop. This is the one at the Jorvik ranger station. You need to gain reputation points with the rangers in order to buy this stuff. I think that it looks quite nice, the love the two tops in particular. I really like that how, unlike most sets, it's not wildly expensive so someone could actually afford all of it. I really like the way that the jacket is the same one that the rangers use and that the saddle bag is so details. Obviously, this shop will have more stuff added to it in time but for now it's looking quite new and I quite like the stuff in there (almost I'm not quite sure that they all necessary fit together). The pricing seems ok (although I think it's running that the mos expensive thing are the plain leg wraps). I really like the colours used on the saddle, I think it looks really nice, I may treat myself to it. This seems to me as the "Mistfall set". I really like each item. It's detailed, nice colours and quite realistic. I especially love the detailing on the shoes and gloves. However, when I saw the set all together, I didn't think that it matched that well. I think that the hat looks a bit odd, it's too tall. But the rest of the rest I think is really nice clothing. If only it wasn't so expensive. I liked this shop so much. It's just perfect for Mistfall that they'd find feathers and sell them for horses. I loved it! It was a really look and original idea that really matched Mistfall and we haven't seen anywhere else in game. I did think they were a bit pricey but because they're very unique I'm not surprised and I don't think that it's the end of the world. I am guessing that the berries go into your saddle bag and you can carry them around to pretend that you've been out gathering. I think that's a really nice idea for the role players out there, but I only like to have 'moving' things in my saddle bag personally, else it feels lifeless. But I know some players will really like them. Then there was all of these. I'm not going to talk about the glasses so much because they were pretty bog-standard and I'm not into glasses, so I'd probably make them sound awful when someone who likes glasses might really like them. But the earrings! It's the first time that we've seen them in game and I love them. The loop earrings are cool but I'm not into loops (I've seen some people with them and think they look great); however, the feathers... My god! It's just, like with the horses, perfect for Mistfall and they look really nice. I'm on the fence about whether to buy them because I'm not sure how much you can see them but I really want to. They're just so pretty and perfect! I guess this is some of the perks of having your character's face look squashed like a mouse!
What do you think about the new shops? Today SSO bought us two new races. Sadly, due to IRL commitments I’m really behind on my dailies but my darling sister isn’t so she “allowed” me (I don’t think she had any idea about it happening if I’m honest) to go on her account to try out the races. They both took around 1 minute and 15 seconds / 25 seconds roughly to complete without trying full on for a high score, so they’re not particularly short races. The first race, the “Forest Race” included a lot of turning, especially with rocks to act as corners. They were also one case of a really cool jump. The second race was longer with more turning, jumping and was, in my opinion, a bit harder. It also had more of the cool jumps that I mentioned earlier. Compared to the other race, it went a lot further away from the station through the tunnel. Both races were quite nice. They weren’t particularly special but they’re the kind of race that I could get into. I prefer races without funny moving things, which these had. They were your pretty traditional kind of SSO race, which was quite nice to see again in the game. I thought that they were quite decent and there was nothing wrong with them. They were reasonably enjoyable to do with a bit of challenge (particularly when you’re taking photos and racing), but not too much challenge so I could actually complete them. The only real bad thing I’d say about this update was it doesn’t look like we’ll get to go on Santa’s sleigh this year, which is a bit of a shame because I always enjoyed that.
Spoilers Hola! This time with the new quests, I against filming them. Mostly, this is due to the storage space issues that I’ve been having with my laptop. I decided that it was easier just to leave it and try and find some quests on YouTube. Sadly, no one uploaded a simple play through of the quests in English, but TotalCretin did do two play throughs of the quests, but the first one involved a lot of her exploring Mistfall as well as questing (which is obviously fine, it’s just not quite what I was looking for). But here is a play through of the two quests (videos are NOT mine and were made by TotalCretin, so give the videos and her channel a bit of love). Ok, so, quests. I loved the addition of someone who is blind. I think that it’s important that people from all aspects in life are spoken about in SSO (coughs, including members of the LGBT+ community). People need to learn to accept people from all walks of life, sexuality, disability, gender, race, and nationality (plus a load more that I haven’t mentioned). I liked the idea that they had been lied to about a disease, it just felt slightly more grown up than “we lost the key to the gate” and it’s nice to do. Also, it was nice to see that GED is still up to no good because we hadn’t heard from them in a while. Obviously, the quests were quite short if you think about the potential in a new area, but SSO did stress that they would add more in time, which is quite normal for a new area. I wasn’t so happy with the wolf quest, it didn’t really relevant at all. It was quite boring if I’m honest and typical that the wolves were the bad guys, even though it wasn’t their fault. I don’t think that it was really need if I’m honest. The quests weren’t amazing but they were ok and got me within 100 XP of level 21, so I’m happy about that.
What did you think? Ok, so here are my thoughts on Mistfall. If you want to find out my thoughts on Dundull, that's another post. It's easiest to lay it out by a photo of each area and talking about it, so that's what I've done. To find out about my thoughts on each place, click on the photo. I loved all of the little houses tucked around since you could invent characters for them all which could actually live there. I love the horse presences, the arena and paddocks, which are around as well of the obvious wildlife. I love the birds, butterflies and fireflies and are around this area, they're a new thing and I think look really cool. I also love all of the new planets: I think that SSO did a great job on them all and they look fab. Plus, lots are editable which adds to the idea that the people of Mistfall are hunter-gathers. The levels to the place are amazing and I love the sunbeams that you can find about, they're so pretty.
I mostly love the area; however, there is one thing I dislike - the fog. it's not as bad as I thought it would be and most of the time it is not an issue. But, sometimes, at night it can make it quite difficult to see and do anything in the area, which is a shame. But, for all of the reasons highlighted, I LOVE the area and I can't wait to spend more time in it, discover more climbing routes (already have two) and just have a good time. it was worth the wait so my thanks go out to the Team at SSO HQ - thanks lads. Night! “Dear Mum. Yes, I am working very hard on my school work and am keeping up with it fine. Matt is great at explaining all that complex maths-y stuff on trigonometry. Jacey is nothing like you described her when I was younger. The way you spoke, you made it seem like she was an imp who stole your brothers heart. I’m still mad that you shipped me half way around the world just for getting excluded from another school. I mean, come on, it was all just a misunderstanding. And anyway, it’s not like you don’t drink so I really don’t see an issue? I hate you so much. - Lana”
I deleted the e-mail quickly, feeling guilty. A little “7% left” sign popped up in the corner of the screen on Matt’s clunky laptop. Not bothered to dig out the charger, I shut the lid and returned it to the shelf. My brother and sister-in-law’s house had been home to me for just the past week. It was just one large room, in which bedroom, sitting room and kitchen had all been combined. Slight indents in the wooden panelled walls allowed curtains to be pulled around my bed and their bed (along with a little window, shelf and crates in which I stored my belongings) which was the only real form of privacy, besides the outdoor composing toilet. The wood burning fire (it is questionable having a wood burning fire in a wooden house, but each to their own) gave the house a constant pleasant aroma of smoke. Upon the counter sat three fish, dead eyes staring out at me. God, I didn’t mind eating the things, but seeing their bodies? No. Way. I pushed the door open, deciding to get a bit of fresh air before dinner that evening. It was cold and I wished that I had worn my coat that Jacey had bought at Dundell just days before. Mistfall was very different to Bristol. Already I had seen rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs and frogs, just hopping, running and, whatever gait hedgehogs choose to use, around their home. Matt had even offered to take me up to see the wolves yesterday evening, but I had, not so politely, declined. Despite the fact that it was almost dark, everyone was busying themselves around the ranger station. I had no idea where Matt was, probably out riding in the woods, but I could see Jacey chopping wood. “Hey, Lana, check on the horses, won’t you?” she asked, nervously. You can’t really blame the poor thing. The social worked strongly suggested (which is what people use when they’re trying to say forced) Mum to send me here so that I could “have some time to calm down”. I was labelled Class A rebellious kid was behavioural issues, which apparently would seriously endanger my future. Since being here I’d already kicked off several times, but couldn’t people just deal with it? Actually, that’s the issue, Matt and Jacey could deal with it. I wanted to just use the “well I don’t want to be here and you don’t want me here” argument, but they DID want me. No matter what I did, they just met it with kindness in return. It’s almost as frustrating as trying to memorise quotes from Macbeth when no one gives a damn what Banquo said to Macduff anyway! Yes, yes, ok, you caught me. Heck, I’m a bit of a geek. I mean, school is awful but learning is sort of cool, sometimes. All three horses seemed fine. All were Connemara horses and were the sweetest animals I ever had met. Billi liked sugar lumps in the morning, Keto loved to be rubbed at the base of her neck and Faranita just enjoyed any kind of attention that he could steal. After allowing each a bit of attention, I walked back into the house, ignored the still uncooked fish bodies, and sat on the bed, wondering if it was worth the effort of logging back onto Matt’s laptop. HELLO THERE, it’s Li. Did you enjoy it? It would be amazing if you let me know if I should continue it or not. This is just the introduction to set the scene and stuff! This time next week it will be Christmas! So how the heck am I meant to review a whole area? So, what I decided to do, was take around 12 photos of the key features of the area and put them together in the gallery below. To find out my thoughts on each piece of the new area, click on the photos, and my conclusive thoughts will be below. Enjoy! I loved the vibes of the village, so Vikingy. I think that their livelihoods of fishing and gathering really shone through on the creation of the area, which is great. I liked the way that it was modern, finally something a bit realistic. I think that the houses were a great style. Almost the same as Firgrove, but slightly different. it makes sense as the people who live in those villages probably come from the same tribes. The houses are viking styled as well, which is cool. However, I do feel like they could have used a better stable in the area. It has an arena, but no stable manager, or anything, yet. The only decent stable is all the way up in Firgrove, which, for Jorvik, is actually quite a way away. So I do wish they'd made better stuff there.
But I didn't think that we'd have a village at all so I think that it's very nice considering that. I think it fits in with the vibes of the area and, all in all, SSO did an amazing job with it! Hi! Mistfall is huge and there’s so many things to review about it and talk about. Here are the things that I really want to talk about - Dundell review - Main land - Quest line - Horses & pets - Clothes & hair - Jorvik Rangers So I’m going to try, in the next couple of weeks, do some of these while not completely spamming the blog with only Mistfall content. Originally, I was going to do just a view on Dundell in this post, but I realised that no one would have a clue what I was on about and would wonder on my thoughts on the rest of the area and update. I assure you, it’s all slowly on its way. For now, I’m just going to do a short line summary on my basic thoughts on each thing so I know I’ve done it. I love reviewing and talking about things and new areas on SSO do my head in. I just love them too much! There’s so much to write about and there’s so much writing inspo and it’s always all too much so I suffer a mini blogging breakdown. Ok Li, breathe, breathe and write. This won’t go into detail on each thing, but it’s the short version of what’s coming in the next few days. As many people would know, I was very worried about the release of Mistfall. I didn’t like the way that they changed the name and I was worried it would be too misty, like Dino Valley. Then, I got worried it would be like South Hoof - no village. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, it’s small, but it’s very detailed. I am getting used to the style of the area and I love the plants and the animals that fly around. I love love love the layers and bridges and all little passageways. Dundell has good Viking heritage vibes, with lots of evidence of fishing and gathering. It’s also a nice cross between Firgrove and Jorvik City, with cars but Firgrove houses, which is a nice transition between them. I love the way that horses are weaved into the way that the town works and the general atmosphere is just great. I have so much more to write on this but not today! The quests were great. It was nice to get an update on GED again. I found them almost challenging in places, which is good, and I think that the story line has some more grown up parts as well as the normal boring “the meat is poisoned” parts, but I get that SSO has to reach a lot of different ages. This is hard to just briefly touch upon, so you’ll have to wait for more detail. The clothes are all detailed and look great, although are expensive. I like the way that you need to get rep to get them, we haven’t had rep in a while so it’s good to have something to work towards. I think it’s nice that the clothes all match the vibes of the area, it just makes the whole thing feel a bit more real. The hair looks cool, I got the pony tail which is the new style. I hope it suits me! I love the Jorvik Rangers. They’re so cool and “woodsy”. I am getting so much inspo about them! There’s not a lot more to say until I review in more detail. So until then! Those are my very brief thoughts on Mistfall. As said, up until Christmas there will be lots of stuff coming about reviewing the area, so I’m sorry in advance for the spam. What did you think of Mistfall? End of year madness & most of my time is taken up with gifts, cards, Mistfall quests & revision. It all ends tomorrow and I can finally blog, yay! I have loads of photos and thoughts on Mistfall to share with you. It's a massive project, so expect a few posts on it! Ok, until tomorrow. It's time to sleep now so i don't die.
As Mistfall is coming on Wednesday, we now have a pretty good idea about it. We got given a further teaser today so here are the images from it. We now know that there are a lot of bridges/ levels and the overall look is, sadly, quite cartoony. However, that’s my only criticism. I love the looked of the town, which i guess is called Dundell. I was so worried that we wouldn’t get a town as I hadn’t seen any teasers for one and the fact that we are makes me feel a lot better. It isn’t too misty, thankfully, and the village I think is the perfect mix between Firgrove and elsewhere. There seems to be a riding place, and from what we can see it reminds me a bit of the foul app. Also, we know it will be on the pink trailers (thank god for lazy people, like myself). Dundell seems to have a beautiful view of the mountains, so jealous. I hope that there will be soon good opportunities to climb. A lot of the plants are new which I think is a nice touch and they look very pretty, especially the pink flowers. We can also see a flag and a tent in another picture, so I wonder what that’s about. We shall find out on Wednesday, I’m so excited and it looks so good!
It's been ages since I've done one of these posts. So, I think that it's high time that I do them again! Ok, let's hop into the quests. Quite a bit of fun yes. Besides the fact that I am forced to do dailies every day for wishes... Oh i guess I could talk to them for you... if I get wishes... Wow ok. What happened? Someone messed up your cookies so you threw them on the floor and I have to tidy them up for you? Right, all done, next helper. Yes, you are on thin ice, it's called a frozen lake. So, there being branches on the lake is a MASSIVE deal that should stop you sending in reports. Fine, I'll pick them up for you. Next helper! Wow ok, another fashion person in SSO, because we didn't have enough (!) I'll pick you clothes up off the ground for you, I guess. Hey, Santa, I have all of the reports but I think someone is setting the helpers up because that's what the news page said. Oh, there's been a crash? Ok, ok. I'm going! Well damn! There's stuff from each helper here... Obviously, let's go tell Santa. But, hang on, what's this? This is how horror stories start. Oh this looks cosy (and would be amazing to edit). I wonder who lives here... GANGSTER ELF Well you're an awful saboteur, ain't you? Ok, let's do the good thing and tell Santa so all the kids playing this game know that owning up is the best thing to do. Well, now that Santa has explained about Christmas, Honey is happy!
I think that the quests were quite a good filler between weeks as they aren't meant to be big quests, just little festive ones. I think that the characters were way to stereotypical and the fashion character has been over used so many times in the game. I loved the designs of the house and of Honey, I thought they were really cool. I wish that we got wishes from it though. Overall, I think they were quite good mini quests! Hi, yes, still alive. I don't know where today has gone but I spent it all with my parents and sisters so I'm happy. Also starting to feel ill but it'll soon be Christmas. I'll see you tomorrow!
Ah, guess who has a fun end of year exam in maths and it almost close to dying and has spent too much time in the evening in tears about it? -Points at self- OK I’M DOOMED SO I AIN’T POSTING ANYTHING REAL. Have some photos from FR’s Christmas photoshoot!
Hola! I meant to write about this yesterday but today SSO released new horses! However, I got some engrossed with the Christmas update that I forgot to check them out and now the light will be awful. Life is annoying sometimes. So, I’ve decided to review the horses tomorrow, then on Friday I’ll go through the new Christmas quests. I haven’t got time tonight because I have a 7:15 bus tomorrow so I actually require sleep! (Although one could argue that if I did an all nighter I wouldn’t sleep past my bus arriving, but that would be I couldn’t focus in my exam on Friday.) Ok, so, firstly, more quests! I won’t go into too much detail on the quests, but they were quite cool. (Spoilers!!!) I loved the shelter at the end but they were quite childish. More detail on that come Friday! The main thing that I wanted to talk about was the reindeer. They have come a little differently this year, and a little earlier. Last year, you got them by completely quests with the council man. This year, you can buy it from the idol for 6 gold wishes, which I prefer. But they’ve also set up this shop: It sells the three reindeer that you see as 15 minute powders, like at Halloween. It’s very similar to Halloween in the sales. i think it quite a good idea but I wish it wasn’t timed and you could earn them in quests. You can get one free from doing the quests. Hmm, I’m not sure. I really like the new things but I don’t like using them because I get so stressed with the timer being there! What do you think?
